Probably that's because there's a Python "snippet repository" at
http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Python/Cookbook/ :-) It wouldn't
make sense to duplicate all this stuff.

In addition to Stefan's comment about the pre-existing repository
for Python code snippets at

http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Python/Cookbook/

it may also be that "programmingish ard...unless you use python" ;)

Or if somebody made a site called programmingisfu n.com, then you might
find some Python snippets there.

I am having a lot of fun using the pyGoogle module ( http://pygoogle.sourceforge.net/ ) that uses the Google API. It is about as easy to use as I can imagine, and it is a lot nicer than using my old HTMl screen scraping habits. My online CGI program Ask Merlin at www.awaretek.com/askmerlin.html is an example. Currently, the program takes any user's question and picks the best answer from amongst the possible answers given by the user....

I've been utilising C for lots of small and a few medium-sized personal projects over the course of the past decade, and I've realised lately just how little progress it's made since then. I've increasingly been using scripting languages (especially Python and Bourne shell) which offer the same speed and yet are far more simple and safe to use. I can no longer understand why anyone would willingly use C to program anything but the lowest...

Hello I just wanted to get the opinions of those of you who have experience developing C# applications and programming in general. I currently am learning the basics of programming (choosing C# as the language of choice) and have developed simple applications to work with Access/SQL databases. I have accomplished all tasks that I wanted to with the small but simple applications...learned alot about the syntax and logic used in C# an...

Is it just me, or am I really observing a trend away from analysis and probem-solving amongst programmers? Let me be more specific: It seems that every day, in greater numbers, people are coming to these programming newsgroups and asking for ready-made solutions to fairly simple programming problems. They either want someone to write code for them, or point them to a ready-made chunk of software that does what they need to do. Now, I'm...

I want to spend two minutes on my soapbox. I love C#. I am so productive in it it's ridiculous. But it's so easy to write code that uses poor design principles. Example: just making variables public instead of using properties. Another example: passing references to forms to other classes so they can modify things (tight coupling). So in essence, there are so many ways to do things that many of them are just flat-out poor...

I bought this book years ago, when I was just learning C++. Since then I've gone through every math course offered at my college, taken courses on coding C & thinking in terms how how to make the smallest tightest algorithms to preform specific functions. I've also grown and matured a lot, and am wiser and older. I'm reading through the C+ + Programming Language, Third Edition now, and I can actually understand it. I can understand it...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
