I am using OpenLaszlo for a project with a Karrigell (Python) ReST
backend. Now strictly speaking, this is not AJAX at the moment. It
uses Flash but has the same "asynchrono us updates from the server"
model. I am waiting for their DHTML engine to mature to switch to it
(they just released a preview). The DHTML engine is AJAX and is based
on Dojo toolkit.

Pro:.
1.) Declarative UI development.
2.) Good look and feel for free.
3.) Comprehensive API for data binding.
4.) Excellent documentation.

Cons:
1.) Only Flash available now.

You might want to take a look at TurboGears 1.0 preview as well. They
have made quite a bit of progress integrating MochiKit.

Beside its an opensource and supported by community, what's the fundamental differences between PostgreSQL and those high-price commercial database (and some are bloated such as Oracle) from software giant such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase? Is PostgreSQL reliable enough to be used for high-end commercial application? Thanks

You have a table - tblOwners. Two of its fields are strOwnrFName and strOwnrLName. Would you make the default value "" (ZLS) most of the time?

In win32 mode, a BSTR was UINT length prefixed and terminated exactly by a zero char. So if you allocated "Hello World" that would allocate 28 bytes. In x64 and (IA64 as well) it would become 32 bytes, because of the fact that a pointer, is 8 bytes instead of 4 bytes. The length prefix -still- is a UINT however and not a UINT_PTR.

Every single time neophytes or converts ask about naming and style conventions what are they told by the majority consensus? The answer is "do what you prefer but do so consistently" right? Yes, that's right, that's exactly what is said. People joining a team of developers are also encouraged to cooperate with their peers and adopt what has already been established right? Yes, that's exactly what is encouraged. Teamwork and cooperation...

>From the common user perspective (like my grandma), why would they care if its a java applet or an ajax application? Say I want to make a chat system on my website...If i'm doing really involved Comet push-style data communication, and rendering everything using DHTML, why would users prefer that over a java applet? Moreover, say I use a java applet to transfer data through a socket connection, then use DHTML to display the data, so...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
