Hi,
I would like to parse out each value that is seperated
by a comma in a field and use that value to join to another table.
What would be the easiest way to do so without having to
write a function or routine ?
EX.
Table AAA
COL1 COL2

Scenario: you enter "foo bar" into a text field... Is it possible
through javascript to select/highlight just "foo"?
formObject.select()
selects all. I need to select only part of the string. -Nick

I have tried several time to do this but have been unsucessful.
I tried something like:
myFunction(charater)
str=frm.s1.value
sb1=str.substring(0,charater)
sb2=str.substring(charater,str.length)

Hi,
I'm looking for an efficient way to do this, because I know it will be heavily used :-)
I have a fixed width string and I need to substitute a substring of characters with new values. I
can do this with 2 substring calls, but it will need to rebuild the string just to write a few
characters.
Here is the simple, but inefficient, version:
string s = "0123456789";

Hi,
I am new to C#, coming from Delphi. In Delphi, I am using a 3rd party
string handling library that includes some very useful string
functions, in particular I'm interested in BEFORE (return substring
before a pattern), AFTER (return substring after a pattern), and
BETWEEN (return substring between 2 patterns).
My questions are:
1. Can any tell me how I can implement such functionality in C#?
2. Is it possible to add/include function...

I code in Rexx on the mainframe which has 2 built-in functions: word(s,i) &
words(s).
word(s,i) returns the ith word in the s(tring), and words(s) returns the
number of words within the s(tring).
Is there something equivalent in C#, preferably built-in (assumed better
performance), or sample code?
Thanks in advance.

I have a list of strings all of length k. For every pair of k length
strings which have k-1 characters in common, i want to generate a k+1
length string(the k-1 common characters + 2 not common characters).
e.g i want to join 'abcd' with bcde' to get 'abcde' but i dont want to
join 'abcd' with 'cdef'
Currently i'm joining every 2 strings, then removing duplicate characters
from every joined string and finally removing all those strings...

What is a good one line method for doing a "length safe"
String.Substring?
The VB classes offer up the old Left function so that
string s = Microsoft.VisualBasic.Left("kelly",200)
// s will = "kelly" with no error
// but
string s2 = "kelly".Substring(0,200)
// results in
// ArgumentOutOfRangeException

Hi,
Can anyone please show me a regular expression (or function or other) for
padding out a string to a fixed number of bytes?
At the moment I've got a var initialized to N spaces, where 'N' is the
largest string I have to pad out, and then I concatenate a substring of that
to my source string so that it ends up the right size. This all works well
but, if possible, I'd like a more generic/elegant approach to manufacturing
N spaces. Is...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
