Just downloaded python for the fun of it.
What do I run to begin coding with?
Version 2.3.3
When I run the "command line" thing, I get a dos window.
Now what?
The built in tutor explains some basics about programming but zilch on where
to begin.

I use xemacs and syntax highlighting for my IDE, but I'm not a big
fan of the default syntax highlighting colors. For instance,
in 'def fun():' both 'def' and 'fun' are the same color. I kind of
like the vim colors, but what would be really useful is to find
various examples of highlighting that people have used, to see
which ones just look right. I looked through google groups but
didn't find any source of highlighting examples. Is...

What is the best way to run python in Xemacs (with C-c C-c)
with real time standard output? Right now, the python output
window fills up when the program is finished running, but
if the program runs for hours it would be nice to see the
output as it is written. I know that I can switch to a
python interpreter window and paste the code in etc but I don't
care about the interpreter, just about the (printed) output
after C-c C-c.

Hi!
Does anyone here have a recipe or elisp code to fold classes or methods
in XEmacs while using python mode? The standard folding mode didn't
worked out of the box here...

Greetings, fellow Pythonistas!
I'm about to create three modules. As an avid TDD fan I'd like to create
typical 'use-cases' for each of these modules. One of them is rather large,
and I wondered if it would be easy enough to create a code skeleton out of
unit test module.
Consider the following, though contrived, unit test code snippet:

Hi,
I've tried to execute from the buffer (C-c C-c) this python script:
s=''
s=raw_input('Enter a string:')
but I got this error:
Enter a string:Traceback (most recent call last):

I wanted to ask for standard ways to receive data from a socket stream
(with socket.socket.recv()). It's simple when you know the amount of
data that you're going to receive, or when you'll receive data until
the remote peer closes the connection. But I'm not sure which is the
best way to receive a message with undetermined length from a stream
in a connection that you expect to remain open. Until now, I've been
doing this little trick:

It's a bit nice that using cStringIO doesn't rely on a very esoteric
optimization in the CPython eval loop, as well as on what references
happen to exist to what objects. For example, one might want to use a

string concatenation. cStringIO wins out in this case.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
