Problem in running a python script from XEmacs

Hi,
I've tried to execute from the buffer (C-c C-c) this python script:

s=''
s=raw_input('En ter a string:')

but I got this error:

Enter a string:Tracebac k (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 2, in ?
EOFError: EOF when reading a line

I'm using Xemacs 21.5.19 compiled on Fedora Core 3 --with-mule --with-gtk

Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Marco.

I would like to say a few (actually more than a few) words here about some recent discoveries I have made concerning the interaction of Leo and Python. If you don't want to hear an inventor enthuse about his work, please feel free not to read further :-) There are at least three, no four, no five, no six, no seven reasons why Leo and Python work so well together. Most are new (in my mind) with the 4.1 release of Leo. The first several...

Hi, I am pretty new to python, so be gentle :) I have a python script that spawns a number of threads (configurable) on a 12 processor AIX RISC-6000 machine. It works fine, so long as I am running less than 5 threads. With more than 5, I get errors, but only on AIX, not on Linux. The python script is fairly simple, because each thread just spawns a korn

Hi All, I just compiled Python 2.3.2 on my local machine as an upgrade from 2.2. This appears to have broken my python-mode.el in emacs. When I try to "Execute Buffer" Ctl-c Ctl-c I get: Wrong type argument: sequencep, cpython Any Ideas?

Hello I am probably going to start a war now... but so be it :) I just want to hear what all you guys who eat pythons for breakfast use for python coding. Currently I use Kate, but I would really like an IDE with debugger and a source browser (ie. one the I can use to browse through modules etc. when looking for just the right curses stuff and such - I am a newcomer to Python).

When I edit a Python script with XEmacs, then hit C-c C-c, the script is executed, the output is shown in a *Python Output* buffer, and the cursor is moved into this buffer. How can I change the behaviour so that the cursor stays where it was before? I'm using Revision 4.29, if it matters. Thanks, Thomas

My DOS window (running in windows ME) closes the second it finishes running my programs. As you can imagine, this makes it hard to see the results. I've gotten in the habit of putting raw_input("Press enter to exit") at the end of every program, and in addition to being pain in the butt, it often fails to work. Being new to programming in general, I make more mistakes than most people. My programs often have errors before they get to my...

I am sure this is old news, the syntax of python is crazy to me. There I said it, I'm sure I'll get over it or around it. I was trying to make a whois script work and was unable. May be someone with lint-like eyes can tell what's wrong. Using xemacs I had hoped that python mode would do more for syntax problems, maybe I'm just not using python mode correctly in xemacs??

Hi, I'm interested in running a Python interpreter in Emacs. I have Python extensions for Emacs, and my python menu lists "C-c !" as the command to run the interpreter. Yet when I run it I get the message "Spawning Child Process: invalid argument." What do I need to do/download to fix this? I read in a post in this group from a while back where someone had the following lines in his .emacs file:

I'm trying to customize the python interpreter that is used to execute my scripts from within WinXP, XEmacs, python-mode version $Revision4.70$, but cannot get it to work. The only thing that works is M-x customize-group python, and change the value of 'Python Command'. However, this changes the interpreter for all buffers, but I want different buffers use different interpreters. Is that possible? What I tried so far:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
