[Twisted] Cookbook?

Does anybody know of a cookbook for Twisted? It's not that helpful for me to
see how an echo server is written (can do this with std sockets) and success
stories are too little concrete.

What I actually want to try is using Twisted in factory automation. So I'm
thinking of cookbook topics like "If you want to capture data from an OPC
server and put them into a database, then go this way..." or "If you want to
notify the production manager of troubles found in production data, then go
for chapter..." etc.

Probably the way to answer such questions is to try it myself - no problem
with that, I'm working thru the examples right now. But if there are
shortcuts, I'd like to take them (who wouldn't do so?).

BTW, the dox itself seem to be extensive (the book in pdf format has 380+
pages), which is really pleasing.

Many thanks in advance and best regards

I hit a problem yesterday with my mail connection. In a desparate attempt to understand what was going on, I wanted to log the connection traffic. After a bit of searching, I found a post on c.l.p from Andrew Bennetts explaining how to run a port forwarder in 2 lines using Twisted. $ mktap portforward -p 8000 -h remote -d 20 $ twistd -f...

Hi, google doesn't give me anything on this, so I have to ask: I've got a xmlrpc-server running using twisted. Using the cookbook-recipe for daemonizing, it stores a file with its pid when in daemon mode. Now I want to remove that file when the server is shutdown - this boils down to the twisted reactors run()-method beeing terminated.

Hello, I am writing an application using two event-driven libraries: wxPython, and twisted. The first problem I encountered in the program is the confliction between the two all-consuming methods of the two libraries: app.MainLoop, and reactor.run. Additionally, the fact that wxPython was to receive requests from the twisted framework as...

I was hoping to get some c.l.p. opinions on O'Reilly's new Twisted book. I'm coming at Twisted as someone who's been programming mainly in Python for almost 6 years now, but who's never done any Twisted development. I've used some of its prepackaged libraries before (and did some custom tweaks to TwistedSNMP), but I don't really know much at...

I recently found a link which demonstrates how to secure a xml-rpc service with basic HTTP-auth. But this get's send in clear-text over the net. There's also the HTTP-Digest auth mechanism which is apparently supported as well by twisted. How do I secure an xml-rpc service using digest-auth then? If this works, all my troubles are suddenly...
