While trying to learn more about Python's standard modules, I noticed that there are *a lot* of Mac only modules... more so than Unix and Windows specific modules combined. Is there a reason for this? I am familiar with the Windows extensions by Mr. Hammond and wonder if they'll ever become apart of the official Python distribution. It looks...

Hello, I am trying to fill an array with source and destination mac address. The first 6 bytes hold the destination mac address and the next six bytes hold the source mac address. Here's a snippet for filling in broadcast address for the destination mac. # Get destination address data = array('B', '\0' * 512) for i in range(6): data =...

I have a fluid header/two column layout at http://www.members.iinet.net.au/~abell1/test/demo10.htm which works with windows MSIE 5.5 and 6, Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera; and Safari but which crashes with Mac MSIE 5. Rather than try to hack the demo to make it work with Mac MSIE 5 I'd like to find a fluid header/two column layout which will...

My site pages look ok in most browsers, including Safari on the Mac. With Mac's IE 5.2 the stylesheet is ignored. I've tried both @import and <Link. Any suggestions? Second question: assuming I don't want to add styles below the @import, is there any advantage in using it? How choose between @import and <Link ?? Mason C

Is there by any chance someone using IE 5.x under Mac OS 8.x - X ? You would like to know if FileSystemObject ActiveX control is supported under Mac OS. MSDN is rather ambiguous on this matter, and I'm totally out of reach of Macs right now. A simple harmless (as you can see) test below would give an OK or an error.

First, Sorry for the cross-post :p OK, in Linux I can obtain the MAC address using socket(), ioctl() etc. and a few data structures. No problem. However, the resulting MAC is stored in a 14 byte char array (sockaddr.sa_data). However, a MAC address is 48-bits! The MAC (as in the char array) is obviously the printable form of: 00efc8346b72

I am an ASP.NET (VB.NET) web developer, using MS Visual Studio. I'm thinking of switching over to MAC. I was wondering if anyone is using Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 beta in a XP or Vista environment on their Mac? If so, any wierd issues, or does it run smoothly (even with Mac OS running)? Also, is it really a TRUE Windows environment?

Hi, If I want to uniquely identify a computer. I can read CPU ID or Mac Address. I heard, but is this true: some BIOS can block CPU ID from being read? (In this case, will I get an exception, null or empty string for method managementObject.Properties?) So maybe Mac address is better way. But when I read Mac address for my laptop, I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
