resizing curses window

I've built a small curses app with an IRC like interface (not for IRC
tho). The last remaining item is to handle resizing the terminal on
SIGWINCH.

I've tried a few things and everything is failing. I first try to
resize my root window using resize() but then my calls to resize other
windows usually fail..

Whats the proper or common way to handle a resize? I added on the
ncurses extention resizeterm() to _cursesmodule.c and that seems to
make things work better, but I'm trying to get away with the stock
module.

Any pointers to examples would be great as searching google did prove
to be very fruitful.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm having trouble with a small curses program. I'm associate a pad with a panel. As I understand, a pad is supposed to be just a window with an arbitrary size. That seems to imply that a pad can be treated like a normal window when working with panels. I have this code: #!/usr/bin/env python import curses import curses.panel

Hi, I'm writing some widgets in curses. Actually I'm trying to write a combobox. To do so, I need to create a pad inside a panel, so that I can hide/show it. I can't do it. I can create a normal pad, but if I try to create it using "subpad" from a window I get _curses_panel.error: curses function returned NULL

As soon as my sourceforge.net project gets approved, I am going to build a ncurses port to win32 bindable to sockets, e.g. allowing VT100/ANSI terminals and the creation of simple terminal servers using the ncurses API for the UI. I plan to initially support only a subset of the ncurses lib, leaving the lib open to expansion/completion. Please stop me if I am going to reinvent the wheel, and tell me if there are any libraries of this...

Chris Share <usenet at caesium.me.ukwrote: http://web.cs.mun.ca/~rod/ncurses/ncurses.html#xterm says "The ncurses library does not catch signal, because it cannot in general know how you want the screen re-painted". First, is this really true? When I make my xterms smaller they clip what is displayed--is that a function of curses or the xterm? Second, if true, it explains /what/ is going on--stdscr, only--, but isn't really...

I need to develop a cross-platform text-mode application. I would like to do it in Python and I would like to use a mature text-mode library for the UI stuff. The obvious choice, I thought, was ncurses. But as far as I can tell, it is not available for Python on Windows? Is there a workaround? Or are there alternative libraries that might be used instead of (n)curses? I know I can use (n)curses on *nix and console on Windows etc., but...

Hello, I'm trying to convert a piece of code that creates a dynamic vertical resizing bar in a table from internet explorer to firefox. It's based on a post from http://blogs.crankygoblin.com/blogs/geoff.appleby/pages/50712.aspx. I've also read the post on this topic by bggraphics, but he doesn't arrive at a final result. The main problem I am having is that the layerX and layerY event properties don't work. They're supposed to return the...

I'm working on a small curses application that opens an external editor occasionally; in the current case I'm testing its running vi. Once I exit vi and return to the curses application I lose the background color, window frames, and any text I had on the screen before I opened vi. I can still see the program functioning though as it is still responding to key strokes and still updating small portions of the screen. I'm obviously doing...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
