Nice one. Where are you from?
I live close to the CWI, and will probably even do a few courses
there. Perhaps I'll look up Guido sometime :)

Hard time finding him at the CWI: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope3...ly/007598.html
Guido's been working in the USA for quite some time now.

I am from Holland too.
A friend of mine had an internship there.
At the end of this internship he was allowed to take 5 friends with him.
We've seen all the super-computers upclose and we had 45 minutes of great
fun in the CAVE (Computer Aided Virtual Environment) or Virtual Reality.
Really cool-geeky-stuff!

I've got a PEG-S300/E
I recently formatted and reinstalled all my software/OS etc. Now there's no
way I can get this to hotysnc via the cradle. It'll do it fine via IR.
Windows XP pro on a laptop. I've got the USB switcher and have downloaded
the latest version. Local USB and Local Serial both selected in HotSync
manager. I've tried every combination I can think of.
If I try to hotsync I just get 'unable to initiate hotsync because the...

you guessed it - repair information. we've added the barcoding of different
materials consumed in making repairs. the application has an interface for
manually entering in the barcoded part number however, we'd like to be...

Hi, everyone.
That's my environment:
- I have a pocket pc (iPAQ h4350) application developed with
VSNET2003/C# that has a SQL Server CE Database, running. That's working
fine. Obs: the pocket is NOT supposed to have a wireless conection
available.
- I have an access database on a standalone desktop running Windows XP,
i.e., there is NO guaranteed network connection available.
- I've developed a webservice with VSNET2003/C# too to do...

Are there events that are fired when I insert the handheld into or I remove
it from the cradle?
*OpenNETCF.Desktop.Communication.ActiveSync* class has *Active* (indicates
that a connection is established between
the client application and the connection manager) and *Inactive* (indicates
a disconnection, or disconnected state, between the
desktop computer and the Windows CE-based device) events, but I don't know
if I can use them:

I am relatively new to .net and SQL server 2005 but I am creating an application which runs on a handheld. The application needs to retrieve information from a MS SQL Server 2005 database. It shall have a simple database locally.
I think this should be possible in several ways
1 - handheld in the cradle and then connect using the desktop computer and active sync.
2 - Connect to internet and use a VPN connection
3 - Directly connect to the...

JESUS in the QURAN
The Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews , who
rejected Jesus as a Prophet of God, called him an impostor. The
Christians, on the other hand, considered him to be the son of God and
worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the great
prophets of God and respects him as much as Ibrahim (Abraham), Moses,
and Mohammed. (Peace Be Upon Them) This is conformity with the Islamic
view of the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
