Hello,

I've been trying to change the text color on a windows console
program I've been working on with no luck. I should mention that I'm
a novice so please dummy up your replies.

I'm the webmaster for a recreational organization. As part of one page of the site, I have an HTML "Calendar at a Glance" of the organization's events for the month. It's a simple table of a calendar, 7 across by whatever needed down, and I manually create it each month - not a big deal. Every day I go in and darken the background color of the current day's cell by changing the appropriate <TD> entry to <TD bgcolor="c63800"> and...

I have a console application (ssh2.exe) that requires keystrokes to be sent to it after activating. I have worked that it needs to be started in it own thread, but capturing the process and sending the keystrokes escapes me at the moment. Is there any material online that describes the process of sending keystrokes to a console app?

I am working on a little app which uses colour in the console window. I have created a class to extend the console functionality but the ClearScreen method does not work correctly. I am enclosing a complete project to show what happens. If anybody has an idea of how to fix this, please let me know. Yes I am aware that this is all in .Net 2. Thanks in advance.

OK, this is driving me crazy! As far as I can tell it should work. It compiles fine. I am saving the fore and back colour of a RTB to the registry like this: Srx.SetValue("ForeColour", Console.ForeColor.ToArgb.ToString) Srx.SetValue("BackColour", Console.BackColor.ToArgb.ToString) Then, I try to read the colours back in at runtime and change the

Hello, I'm a bit stuck trying to convert a text file which contains extended ASCII text and changing the ASCII values so they become readable. I do this by subtracting 127 from the ASCII value. However, at the moment I am just getting more gibberish so I'm probably doing something wrong. I tried using ASCII Encoding before to get the ASCII values. Although this worked for 0-127 ASCII values, extended ASCII gave strange values (such as 1992...

Hello, I'm parsing a chunk of XML code and would like to add attribute values to individual tags if these are lacking. This is with perl 5.8.6, libxml2 2.6.17, XML::LibXML 1.58. Basically, I have the parser add the attribute values to the respective nodes and then use the toString method of XML::LibXML::Document to write the modified text to a scalar. Both the original and the modified text evaluate properly as utf8, but the modified...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
