set IDLE scrollback size?

How may I increase the scrollback buffer size in IDLE? The amount I can
scroll up now in IDLE is nice, but I'd like to make the scroll buffer
larger. I've checked the docs, config files, and comp.lang.pytho n
archive, but I have not found a way to resize the lines I can scroll up.

Is there any way of getting scrollback to work in MacPython 2.3b2? At present, when I try and scroll back to re-issue a past command using the up arrow key, I simply get a series of "^[[A" symbols. Very annoying, Any tips most appreciated. cjf

I bet folks knew that once I got Idle up, I'd have commets :-) The font size for help is too small for me. I can successfully change the font size in the main window, so that's fine, but it didn't affect the font size for the help. I took a look at the Idle-dev mailing list, but with at least two spam messages a month in the last three months of archives, my reaction is that that's totally unacceptable, so I quickly unsubscribed.

For the past couple of months, Idle won't start when I invoke it. I am at a complete loss for why this is. When this happens, they python command line still starts, and python works fine otherwise. Most interesting to me is that a reboot won't fix the problem. But if I just try it again sometime later it will work. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running python 2.3 on windows 2000 professional.

This is sort of both Python and Vim related (which is why I've posted to both newsgroups). Python related: ---------------------- I have been frustrated for quite some time with a lack of a history command in IDLE (in fact with IDLE in general). Often I'll develop new code at the command line, testing each line as I go. Currently I have to copy and paste, removing outputs and the ">>>" at each line. Is it perhaps possible to make...

I want to log the user out when there has been a period of inactivity in the application. The key here is inactivity of the application, not the system. I know that you can retrieve the inactivity of the system via GetLastInputInfo. That's not what I want - I want inactivity of the application. Thanks.

Using OS X 10.5.5 Python 2.5.1 IDLE was working, then all of a sudden, the window size went off of the screen.... could not resize it. I closed IDLE and rebooted and now IDLE will not start. Below is the Traceback Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/bin/ IDLE", line 5, in <module>

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
