I've just converted my application to use the logging module for its
logging needs (it's quite excellent, actually :)). One thing I still
have to resolve, though: in many places in my application, I want to
catch *all* exceptions *except*, for instance, KeyboardInterrupt and
SystemExit. So I'll have code like this:
try:
callback(data)
except Exception, e:
log.exception("Uncaught exception from callback")

I feel like this has probably been answered before, but I couldn't
find something quite like it in the archives. Feel free to point me
somewhere if you know where this has already been answered.
I have a list in a particular order that I want to split into two
lists: the list of every nth item, and the list of remaining items.
It's important to maintain the original order in both lists.
So the first list is simple:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnbda/html/exceptdotnet.asp

Hi,
I'm getting into the Trace-functionality in .NET, using it to provide some
much-needed logging across dlls in the project we're working on. However,
being a newbie, I'm wondering if some more experienced loggers can provide
me with some ideas as to how to log in a simple yet flexible manner. For
instance, I'd like the code to be as uncluttered as possible by Trace
statements.
As an example of basic logging functionality, I've come...

Hello,
Does every error encountered during try() block is handled by
catch(Exception e) ? Do I have to catch every aspect or every detail of
exception? e.g. catch (IOException io) catch (OutOfMemory mem)exception..
What I'm after is a generic catch().
Thanks

Understanding and Using Exceptions
(this is a really long post...only read it if you (a) don't know what
try/catch is OR (b) actually write catch(Exception ex) or catch{ })
The first thing I look for when evaluating someone's code is a
try/catch block. While it isn't a perfect indicator, exception handling
is one of the few things that quickly speak about the quality of code.
Within seconds you might discover that the code author...

Hi,
In a typical 3 tier model (view layer, busines layer and data access
layer) where do you handle your exceptions? do you let it buble up all
the way to the .aspx pages or do you handle it in your business layer
and/or data access layer?
suppose in my data access layer, I provide try and catch, log the
exception and re-throw it back to business layer, then in yoru business
layer, what do you do? throw it back to the code behind or...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
