PostgreSQL DB Outage: logfile & trace question

2 New Member
Hey guy ever night it seems our DBs is locking up or like this morning crashing and restarts. Today is just my 4th day on the job, they have an offshore team that currently handles all their DBA and db work currently. I was brought on because they will be moving to a SQL Server environment soon and just kind of wanted me to work with these guys a little on the postgresql now to see whats in place.

The problem is, this offshore group is unable to tell us why the DB keeps crashing or any type of insite. I requested the log file and trace for the time of the outage last night. My issue is I want to help them but I’m just not familiar with postgresql.

So my question I wanted to ask is, are there any key error messages I should be on the look out for in a case like this where the DB keep going out. Any key words I should look for in the log file or trace?

Thanks,

I have written a COM component who's purpose is to allow a user to change his Windows (NT/AD) password via a web page. Now the component works fine when I run it in VB 6, but not via the web page. The component also returns an integer value that contains a return code from the Component (and the appropriate Windows API). The result (using the ASP page) is Zero, which indicates success. However the password doesn't change. (Zero = success,...

I've posted this question to comp.graphics.apps.gnuplot too but given that this python group may also comprise a lot of gnuplot users, and is far more active, I've posted this question here too. My apologies to those who read this twice. I posted to cgag before I decided to post here with a more meaningful subject. Anyone had any success getting stdout from gnuplot on an ms windows system (XP)? I'm trying to read mouse coordinates...

Hi, I turned on page level tracing, but the trace output overwrites the the controls on the page. All I did was: - create a new asp.net web app - Put 3 labels, 2 textboxes and one button on the page - Handle button click event, perform simple calculation with trace logging message - Turned on page level tracing and ran the project The labels, textboxes and button are overwritten with the trac eoutput.

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
