Postgres backup and restore

1 New Member
Can anyone tell me about database backup and restore.
There are lot many dumps available but i want to use tar/gzip backup.
also provide me information about restoring it in case of db crash.

Method i use should be easy and fast. From C# as front end in linux server I should be able to do this.

I will be more happy if somebody helps me on this scenario.

For testing purposes, i did the following: 1) Ran a BACKUP DATABASE command to a file named C:\TEST.BAK. 2) Deleted the database completely. 3) Ran a RESTORE DATABASE on the same file (note, I did NOT recreate the database) Now I have the database back with all my data....

Friends, I have read DB2/UDB 8.x 'RESTORE DATABASE Command', with my 'limited' knowledge & skill. I think it should address my concern, but I want advice/ opinion / experience and any care I must take to restore DB2/UDB 8.x database 64 to 32 bit). (1) Due to hardware limitaion I can not have 64 bit DB2/UDB 8 on AIX 4.3.3 host. Let us call this as host vhost32. I can migrate 7.2EE FP11 32bit to 8.x 32 bit on vhost32. This is my test...

I've a question regarding db2 (V8.1) and database backups going to a storage manager like TSM for example. As I can see in the storage manager if I backup the complete database over the TSM API (no tablespace backups) the backup images is stored as a single backup object. Later I will be able to restore the complete database from this image and I will also be able to restore single tablespaces from this backup image as long as I...

I've been working with db2 8.2fp14 for over a year now and was wondering what is a "standard" way of doing a backup to provide 24/7 operations with disaster recovery capabilities? My thoughts were an offline backup once per quarter, followed by a monthly online backup, followed by daily backups of the logfiles. BUT it's the details of each that I'm wondering... 1- how can i tell what logfiles need to be backedup? is there a way to "trim"...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
