I searched through the net quickly and the list archives, but could not
find anything doing this. Is it possible? There is a Perl module for
doing this, but I guess cannot use modules for security reasons.

But you can use plperlu to define a function to do that.

I've written up a page about how to convert native binary data to
another platform's native binary data, as I did some fortran data
conversions for a client.
The programs and documentation are at:
http://dcs.nac.uci.edu/~strombrg/converting-binary.html
So far, the page includes a variety of programs written in C or python to

I'm used to programming in c or c++ in which my problem is simple.
I want to be able to enter a value on a page (like 3.2), and then read
it as a 32-bit float and break it into it's individual bytes.
I've tried using bitwise operators, but they seem to convert the value
into an integer first, and i've tried using the toString() method to
convert it into a hex value so i can parse it, but that also seems to
first convert it into an...

Since rtf files cause so many troubles, i.e., allow the users to download the
files, slow loading, incompatible with other browser, and so on. Do you think
I should convert them to JPEG files to embeb them into HTML? Once converting
to JPEG, it is easier to programming in HTML (i.e., just add the image tag),
load faster, and prevent the user from download the files? Do you think
that's a good idea.
thanks

Hi,
I'm looking for a simple way to convert a Double to a String exactly
the .ToString() does, except these two differences:
- the number of decimals is given (rounding is applied if
necessary), and
- trailing zeroes are kept.
This means I need it to be converted using the scientific notation if
the number is greater than a certain value etc., not just a simple
"this number of digits (or more if needed) before the decimal point

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
