I've been given the task of converting some existing java code to PHP
so we can integrate it into our web based product.
The problem I'm facing is that the java code makes heavy use of Vector
objects to hold data. This in itself isn't a problem however the java
code makes heavy use of Vector.insertElementAt(). This method inserts
into the vector container at a desired location and shifts the indexes
of all the other items accordingly...

After many years of using LISP, I'm taking a class in Java and finding
the two roughly comparable in some ways and very different in other
ways. Each has a decent size library of useful utilities as a standard
portable part of the core language, the LISP package, and the java.lang
package, respectively. Both have big integers, although only LISP has
rationals as far as I can tell. Because CL supports keyword arguments,
it has a wider range...

Running DB2 v7 UDB ("DB2 v7.1.0.93", "n031208" and "WR21333") on Windows XP,
I am unable to find out why the "Build for Debug" option within Stored
Procedure Builder is not enabled on Java stored procedures. It is enabled
for SQL stored procedures.
It is possible to "Build" and "Run" the Java SPs, it just isn't possible to
click on the "Build for Debug" option. Thanks for any help in advance.

Im a long time java developer and actually have never done anything
with java scripting. I'd like to write a short simple script for
calculating a date in the future based on today's date and a letter.
Can I use javascripting to create a webpage to allow a user to enter a
letter and then click a button to find a future calendar date? I'm just
not sure how much user interaction scripting allows. Does java
scripting allow buttons, textfields...

I wonder if you can help me - I'm new to this, and working in a project that has already been configured to work with Axis.
We have a Java project built with the Spring framework, in order to provide webservices for access via SOAP. As I understand it (ie not very well!) Axis works to accept these SOAP messages from the client and transform them into calls on our Java methods, and do the reverse with the responses - cool! Which is excellent,...

Hello,
From a zone-file of a Microsoft Active Directory integrated DNS server
I get the date/time of the dynamic update entries in a format, which
is as far as I know the hours since january 1st 1901.
For Example: the number 3566839 is 27.11.07 7:00. To calculate this in
Excel I use this:
="01.01.1901"+(A1/24-(REST(A1;24)/24))+ZEIT(REST(A1;24);0;0) (put
3566839 in field A1 and switch the format of the result-field to the
corresponding...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
