Hi. I would like to query a database, given several where clauses to refine
my search, and return the value of one single field in the database.
eg: I have a table that lists teachers. Their first name, last name, age,
unique teacher number, etc is in the file.
I want to return the unique teacher number, for example, of the teacher
whose first name is Jane and last name is Doe.
How does one do this?

In the following code I am calculating 2 values when the "Compute
Distance" button is pressed. I would like to find a way to "return" both
value to the form so I can show both when the calculation is made. (one
is merely the doubling of the computed result.)
I have cobbled this form from several places, and I don't remember
enough of HTML or JavaScript to know where to seek additional
information. The code below does the calculation,...

The c# *return* statement has been bothering me the past few months.
I don't like the fact that you can have different code paths in a method
and have multiple return statements. To me, it would be more orthogonal
if a method could only have one return statement.

I have the following code segment - which compiles fine. I'm just
worried I may get run time probs - because it looks like the functions
are being overloaded by the return types?. Is this Ok: ?
template <class T1, class T2>
int getValue( T1 col, T2 row ) ;
template <class T1, class T2>
double getValue( T1 col, T2 row ) ;

I think I already know that the answer is that this can't be done, but
I'll ask anyways.
Suppose you want to use an RDBMS to store messages for a threaded
message forum like usenet and then display the messages. A toy table
definition (that I've tried to make standards compliant) might look
like:
create table messages (
message_id integer,

Hi,
Is it possible to make a stored procedure or function to generate a return
value?
I have a stored procedure which inserts a new row in a table. I would like
that proceudre to return the ID (autogenerated field) of the row after it
has
inserted it.

I use the code below to search through a DataSet:
Dim t As DataTable
t = result.Tables("State")
Dim strExpr As String
strExpr = "id = '" & theState.ToString() & "'"
Dim foundRows() As DataRow
foundRows = t.Select(strExpr)
This of course returns foundRows. My problem is that I need to return

Hello all,
Have a really interesting problem (at least to me) with my
upload_file() function. I have it working now, with a bit of a work
around, but would like to know what everyone thinks in regards to this
being a bug or perhaps my ignorance. Basically the function takes two
arguments, one is the desired file path I want the upload file to be
moved to, and the second is an arbitrary integer. If the file doesn't
already exist, the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
