Trying to get some ideas on a simple javascript project (to teach myself the
language).
I want to develop a client-side vocabulary practice application that would
allow users to
enter their own words, their own definitions plus an example of how the word
is
used in practice. It'll be all client side with - cookies? to get
persistence so that the words won't
disappear on me each time the page is closed (which is what happened when I

Dear All,
I have been working with VB.NET for the last 5 months or so as a solo
developer for a small business. I have already started developing the
application but have hit a snag with the referencing of one project
within another.
I would like to develop the solution using a modular approach such
that the solution will be made up of several smaller projects being
referenced by a main application project. Some of these smaller

i am a 'user' of access, meaning, i import excel files, join, and
merge....that's about the extent of my expertise with ms-access. my
boss wants me to create an access application that will replace our
'excel' version of time reporting. we use ms-access 2000. i have a
huge book (mastering access 2000) though the cd is missing. i looked
at using the wizard for time reporting, but is was designed for
external clients, and the...

Hi all,
I'm writing a small web application which searches a database based on
a date field, and populates a datagrid control with the results. The
datagrid control has selection buttons added to it to view additional
details about the selected result (a second database query is
triggered).
I want this second query to pop up in a new window, the way it would
if I used "window.open" in javascript. I've added a function in the

Hi,
I'm in the process of conceptualizing a new ASP.NET application. I'm a
relative newbie in ASP.NET / .NET in general, so any comments will be
greatly appreciated.
Basically i need to make my application as modular as possible, something
along the lines of Mambo (PHP CMS System) Drupal (another PHP CMS) or
something similar to these. What I'm thinking is to provide the following
structure: core of the application includes essential...

Hi
my job is to migrate our WinForms application to ASP.NET. This app was
build very modular so every peace of code can be replaced by another
"modul". There are 1 VS-solution with about 60 projects (dll's) in it.
Now I have to design a Web-Client modul (actually the web-interface). To
maintain the modularity, I thought of making one ASP.NET-Project inside
of the solution and create some projects containing Custom Web Controls.
Did...

Hi all,
I am working on a new asp.net app that I would like to create in "modular"
fashion. Each piece will be its own module. Inside each module, data will
be reported and additional information will be given. I would like to create
some sort of user access security for the data that's reported. Example:
the manager can see all of the fields from a table, but the data entry person
can only see a few fields when accessing the same...

I'm working on a web application where 90% of it is common 'product'
code an the other 10% is customer specific.
I want some method of separating the customer specific presentation,
business and data access layers from the product code as I don't the
main product code to be bloated with customer specific code.
Ideally I'd like to have one solution for the product and one for each
customer. However I haven't found a way to separate the...

my program compiles without problems but when i try to run it pauses shortly and then crashes. When i set it to debug it came up with the following message:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
