I have a problem that has raised a couple of questions.
SITUATION:
I have a table called pr_persona that has a composite key comprising
pr_persona_db CHAR(2)
pr_persona_id INT(11) auto increment
On a separate table, rv_reservation, I have a foreign key that links to
pr_persona as follows
rv_reservation.rv_agent_id VARCHAR(13)

Hi I have a huge table with over 100million records and on regular
basis ineed to delete nearly a million records and insert a million
records.
Currently I delete indexes before going through the process and
recreate the indexes which takes a very very long time.
IS there a way to disable indexes and re enable them after doing
insert and delete by reindexing or anything of that sort?
OR
Is there an approach to append two tables with...

Sorry for the piece-by-piece nature of this post, I moved it from a
dormant group to this one and it was 3 separate posts in the other
group. Anyway...
I'm trying to bulk insert a text file of 10 columns into a table with
12. How can I specify which columns to insert to? I think format
files are what I'm supposed to use, but I can't figure them out. I've
also tried using a view, as was suggested on one of the many websites
I've...

Hi all;
I just made an interesting discovery. Not sure if it is a good thing or
not, and using it certainly breakes first normal form.... Not even sure if
it really works. However, as I am able to CRASH the backend, there is a bug
here somewhere...

Is it possible to use a user-defined composite type as
the data type of a column? for example,
create table tbl (
a integer,
b type1
);
type1 is a composite type defined separately using
CREATE TYPE clause.

When using the (tbl).field notation for selecting a specific field from a
composite field then the query returning the field is executed once per
field. An example is giving below. The runtime is directly related to the
number of fields accessed.
The following tests is done with seqscan disabled - but I have confirmed the
exact same behavior with seqscan enabled.
Another side effect of this is the case where f_all_acl() actually...

Basically I'd like to implement the composite design pattern with leaves that
are either of reference or value types, but even using generics I can't seem
to avoid boxing (using ArrayList or Object)
Is this even possible, or is the composite pattern doomed to use the
System.Object type forever?
I have tried using interfaces with generics, but I always stumble on the
Value property (when trying to return the value of a particular node)

I have created a fairly basic composite control consisting of a Label
and a TextBox. In the overridden Render function, I'm creating a
table with two rows and each row contains a cell (td). The Label and
the TextBox are each rendered in one of the cells. Everything renders
fine. The problem is that depending on the column the control
represents I may want the textbox to be a different visible size
during both design and runtime. I...

Hello:
I was wondering if I could get some input on how to address a design
issue, involving my composite table.
I have one portion of my project complete. The following forms and
reports I will add, piggyback off of my existing design.
The part I have already completed allows my users to create a design
sample; this is made up of several materials to create one sample. I
have accomplished this using this design:

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !
Part I. Meaning of...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
