I'm writing a find and replace routine for a text editor I'm working
on. The editor has a rich text box on the main form (frmMain). The
find/replace form is modeled after the one in Word '97/2K. So far my
find code is working satisfactorily. (The replace code is not yet
written.)
One challenge has me stumped thus far. I need to find a way to make
sure my frmFindReplace does not obscure the view of the found word
that has been...

I started writing this list because I wanted to have definite points
to base a comparison on and as the starting point of writing something
myself. After looking around, I think it would be a waste of time to
start writing yet another IDE and so am now thinking in terms of new
features/plug-ins for existing systems.
Right now I mostly use Komodo Personal and it's pretty close to being
what I want. They don't currently support plug-ins,...

at work we switched to UTF-16 encoding and now when I open html files in
HomeSite the code is all messed up, and if I turn on "enable non-ANSI
file encoding" code looks fine when I open files but I get this error
when I try to save them..
"The character set defined in your document does not match the
encoding format you selected in the Save As Dialog" (even though I
don't do Save As, just save..) and sometimes doesn't let me save them...

I know there's a request for a good IDE at least once a week on the ng,
but hopefully this question is a little different. I'm looking for
suggestions for a good cross-platform text editor (which the features
for coding, such as syntax highlighting, etc.) but not a full IDE with
all the fancy jazz (GUI developer, UML diagrams, etc.).
Ideally, it would be something I could even put on a flash drive and
move from computer to computer, but...

Hi folks,
I am new to Googlegroups. I asked my questions at other forums, since
now.
I have an important question: I have to check files if they are
binary(.bmp, .avi, .jpg) or text(.txt, .cpp, .h, .php, .html). How to
check a file an find out if the file is binary or text?
Thanks for your help.

I've had a good run of help on this site when I get to an issue I struggle to think through.
I have set-up a database through ASP that allows the site's owner to login into an Admin section and using a WYSIWYG editor dynamically change content on the site. The Editor I am using is TinyMCE.
Where I have an issue is, when the editor uses ' or " within their text blob, I get a MySQL error...
Which I assume is because the first time an...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
