Just wandering how can you close a browser remotely. In some web
applications the browser closes or refreshes periodically.
How is that done and how can it be done through PHP?
TIA,

You can't.

HTML, meta-refresh.

It's client-side behaviour, PHP runs on the server.

I am doing a simple php header refresh --
header('refresh: 10; url=msgs.php');
that just does a call back to my script every 10 seconds. Things work
great when the page is first loaded up, but if the end user hits F5 or
the refresh button, then the page stops refreshing indefinately. Any
ideas how to make it so that the page perpetually refreshes regardless
of what the end user presses?

I have a working PHP/MySQL application used for data entry. The data
entry screen includes a "Save" button. The PHP code for this button
looks like this:
if (isset($_POST))
{
if ($_POST == "")
{
include ("InsertRecord.inc"); // Insert new record

Hi there,
My boss is hoping that I can come up with a page that displays some
information. The information will always be displayed on specific part of
the page, with auto refresh. But he doesn't want the whole page to be
refreshed so that buttons and images around the information do not get
reloaded each time. Is this really possible?
Other pages on this site don't use frames, so this page can't use frams too.
Creating an ActiveX...

I'm having an issue with the "Refresh" of an asp.net page. The refresh is
actually calling my last onClick event. I thought that asp.net was supposed
to be stateless in that it shouldn't remember that I clicked a button before
the refresh. Here is what is going on:
1) Page Loads
2) User enters some values, clicks the "Save" button
3) The onClick event handler for the save button saves the data to the
database and the page is...

Hi all,
I posted this question some time ago in an earlier thread but so far I
still don't have an understanding of why this is happening or what I
can do to fix it.
I use Session variables, such as Session("username") to store a lot of
information about who is logged in to my app and what they can do.
Since the app permits certain users to impersonate other users (permits
some users to delegate their work to assistants, who are...

How can I get an asp:Image to refresh when a user uploads a different jpg.
I disabled caching using this command on Page_Load():
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.No Cache);
but it didn't help.
The problem is that this page does not change images after a client uploads
a new one. If I hit the browser's refresh, then I can see the updated image,
but if I don't refresh, then I see the previous image.

My ASP.NET application's main page should change values on screen when
some extern event occurs (a change in the state of a machine monitored
by a .NET Remoting object). That is, this .NET Remoting object that
detects a change in a machine, should change or somehow make the page
reload in order to show new values on screen.
How to make these changes visible to users? The unique way would be to
refresh the page every 'N' seconds? Taht is,...

Hi,
Say i have a server process which listens for some changes in database.
When a change occurs i want to refresh my page in browser by notyfinig it.
I do not want to refresh my page i.e. every 5 seconds, i just want to
refresh it ONLY on server change just like desktop applications do.
The problem is that refreshing evry n seconds has to much impact on my
web server. The refresh action should be taken only when something

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
