how to move record up down top and bottom

254 Contributor
Hi

I wanted to move record up or down or top or bottom if user selects up or down or top or bottom from select box. records are coming from database.

while saving record I am assigning no. to every record like 1,2,3,...45,etc . It is not the case that every record will get increamented no. It may some record can be stored with same value like 35 some like 17 and so on.

and records are retrieved based on this no. means in ascending order..

Now I want to move record so how this will be done.

For instance, I have datagrid of records and if I select a record and press the move up button the record moves up in the datagrid. Is there some special trick to that? thanks in advance, ari

Hi, I've created a form, on the bottom it has the navigation buttons to move to the next/previous records. However, the button for "new record" is greyed out (i can't select it). How do I make the "new record" button visible so I can select it? No matter what I do (Records->Save Records) it won't save this record and allow me to enter another record. I'm creating a form using Design View, some fields contain data that are input into...

Hi, I have a form which I would like to keep in 'FormView', but which displays rows each containing records. Generally the data will be added/updated by moving between fields, but I would also like the down arrow to move down a record and the up arrow move up a record etc. Darned if I can see how, despite searching through the help - both Access and Visual basic. Thanks in advance

Hi. I have a friend who has a form (ok that's a lie ... it's me that has the form) that is opened up with AllowAdditions and AllowEdits = TRUE and the selection criteria for the form results in 2 records in the "recordset". The form displays one record at a time and has a navigation control at the bottom. The number of records message says "1 of 2". Tracing the logic shows that in Form_Open, Form_Load, and Form_Current the Cycle...

Hi !! In a Continuous Form with say 10 records, I'd like to have 1 button with an "UP" Arrow & another button with a "DOWN" arrow. By pressing either the Up or the Down Arrow, I'd like the user to be able to MOVE the records up or down the order. Something like in a WinAmp or MusicMatch Playlist. A little sample code would be much appreciated.

Hello, Is there a way to use JavaScript to push a page element (a DIV block, for example) down the screen, so it sits at the bottom of the browser window. For example of a bad footer location: http://www.simpy.com/user/angusprune Note how the footer is very high up. Is there a way to push the DIV

I'm trying to reproduce functionality I've seen in some other (non-Access) applications. On one of my forms, the master record is a document. The subform consists of a datasheet list of the topics within that document--a kind of table of contents of the document. Problem is, the records in the datasheet list are not in the same order as they are in the document; rather, they're in the order that people added them to the database. I've tried...

I have a fairly long page with a submit button, a validation summary and a status label at the bottom of the page. I need it to go back to the bottom after the post so that the user can see any status information. I found some code that is supposed to do this but I cannot get it to work. it compiles and runs but does not move me down to the bottom fo the page. Here's my VB code that runs at the end of a sub where I post data back to the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
