I am writing a Python script that uses the win32all winsound package to
play a .wav file. I the sound come out of the left hand speaker, but
not the right hand speaker.
I've look at some Python sound libraries (PySonic, Audiere, pygame), as
well as any number of command line .wav file players. For differing
reasons, none of these were suitable. Two possiblities are:
(a) Convert the mono .WAV file to a stereo .WAV file that plays out of...

I'm putting together a C# .Net forms project on win2k. The application
requires some sort of horn sound. I've never implemented any audio in .Net,
so I'm not sure how best to accomplish this.
It's an application that works with a wireless barcode scanner, in a
warehouse environment. The user could be potentially 20 or 30 ft. from the
PC. If the user scans something improperly, the app should sound a 'horn' to
notify the user. I'm trying...

how can I play sound file in a .aspx page written in C#?
I try to use the code like the following. But whenI call the play function
play("sound.wav", this.SND_ASYNC)
my computer give out "be" sound instead playing the file
(same code works fine in a windows application written in c# , that mean
there is nothing wrong with my sound card.)
thanks

Dear All,
I found the code added below at:
http://simplythebest.net/sounds/sound_guide.html
Unfortunately, the code doesn't seem to work in Firefox. These are the
error messages I can see in my Javascript Console:
Error: self.document.guitar.IsReady is not a function
Error: self.document.guitar.stop is not a function

Hi,
Is there a cross-browser way to play short (< 25K) sound files without
spawning new windows or embedding any visual controls on the page? I
would like to click a button and hear my short sound.
Thanks for your help, - Dave
ps - Searching Google turned up stuff for Netsacpe and IE 3, but I was
hoping more for IE 7 and Firefox.

I have an application that is designed for using with a bar code scanner. I
want the user to know that the scan was complete and the data was entered, so
I am playing a system sound after data entry. The data is being put into a
text box, and a Return is sent after the data. I use the keypress event to
capture the Return, and save the data. Then, I play the system sound, clear
the text box, and set the focus back to the text box for the...

Now that .NET is at it's fourth release (3.5 is coming soon), my very humble
question to the gurus is:
"What have we won with the decision to have string objects immutable? Or did
we won?"
Ok. It's a broad, and maybe a very silly question to ask, but still.
I mean, what good has it brought to us? What advantages immutable strings
have against mutable ones?

Hi,
I've been struggling to get sounds to work with attachSound when the sounds are stored in a swf loaded into another swf. I came across a post on a forum which supposedly explains how to to do it, however i tryed what it suggested and it doesn't work. (link)
I then tryed to use the MovieClipLoader class so that once the swf was loaded the sound would be played. What is strange though is that when the swf has loaded i can return a valid...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
