Any pointers on how to (1) read a Base64 encoded string from a text file
and (2) write it to a binary file?
I have a ton of files that are being generated from a legacy system. Each
file contains a (1) content type one one line, a (2) filename, and (3) the
encoding type (seems to always be Base64, followed by the encoded string.
A process will be to read the content type and filename, then create a new
binary file and write out the...

Hi;
I created a virtual directory in IIS 6.0 and my asp.net app runs fine. But
when it tries to write a file I get:
Access to the path is denied. - C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\RunReportASP\images
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\RunReportASP is the directory of my virtual directory for
my app. In it's properties I did check "Write" as a permission.
What else do I need to do?

I am using document.write in an external javascript file to display
some content, but I've found that I can't rely on that content being
displayed in the location I expect.
Here's a very simple example:

I am writing an extension for Firefox 1.5.
I would like to know if there is a way to write and read data to and from a file which is in the location of the extension (or somewhere in the user's harddisk, where I can store and retrieve some data). I tried to use a write function which I found in one of these threads and tried to give it "chrome://followmylink/files/" as the path.
function fileWriter (filename,content) {
try {

Hi - question from a relative asp novice
I have written to text files in the past, but always appending new data to
the end of the text file. I now want to add the new data to the beginning of
the file.
The text file would be a record of orders placed through a web form. The
text file would merely be a record of the orders but it needs to be in
descending date order - each new record added to the beginning.

Develop a simple text editor program. The program will show the user a menu of choices and will act according to his choice. Use functional decomposition to break the system into small functions that are accessed by the main program to provide the system functionality. Using the text editor, the user can:
• Input the name of a file
• The program will check if a file with this name exists or not. If yes, it will tell the user “This File...

I want to write to an output file, "C:\\temp\\debug.txt": If the file
exists, append the new content to the end of the file (instead of
overwriting the current content). If the file doesn't exist, create
the file and write from the beginning.
Therefore, I want to code this like below:
FileInfo lFile = new FileInfo("C:\\temp\\debug.txt");
if (lFile.Exists)

After this is run the browser opens a file-save dialog box for saving the

I wonder how it knows I want the file saved?
But more important, the dialog box has as the default file name the name of
this ashx file.
I'd like to make that name more meaningfull but don't know how it gets set.
I'm looking for a Response.Write but don't find one. Maybe that why the

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
