Hi,
I have been reading some text on C and C++ (i.e advanced books). One
of the books mentioned that C++ requires a runtime support whereas C
does not - what the author was trying to say was that once you compile
a C program the executable created is all that is needed whereas if you
compile a C++ program the executable created requires a C++ runtime
installed on your system to run the program.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make PostgreSQL 7.4 to work on a minimal Linux
(2.4.22/libc-2.3.1) environment
comprised of selected libraries and the latest busybox. So far, the
binaries: "initdb", "pg_ctl" and
"initlocation" (initlocation: not really required) won't work, and
terminates with the "SIGSEGV"
message. All other pg binaries/executables do not report the said
segfault message.

Hello.
I have application in VB working with db (AS400).
When I had Client Access 4.4 everything worked OK but now after
migration to CA5.1 it is not.
When I run application from VB environment application works correctly
but if I compile a new executable and run it, I get mixed data.
I have checked many configuration and options in ODBC settings and
noticed that application (no matter if its started from .exe or VB)
works correctly...

Dear All
Below are the few doubts which I got while studying about C
1. Is there any method in C by which we can process the entire string
in one unit,
2. Does there exist any way to make the command line arguments
available to other functions without passing them as arguments to

(Forewarning, most of these problems and solutions come from being the
only developer in a 1 server department with no budget, few resources,
unresponsive IT, and non-technical managers, so thats where I'm coming

(Additionally, this may or may not fit in this group, but I know
there's bright people here, and it is largely PHP development centric)
Any time I've done web development, I've always been plagued by some of

Hi,
I had the following doubts about the "For Read Only" clause.
1. How does a "for Read only" clause improve the performance?
2. How does a "for Read only" clause compare with "With UR" clause in
performance? Which is faster?
Can someone clarify on that?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
