Testing Environment Question

IF I have a database developed in the following environment:

Windows XP Professional (all security patches and critical fixes
installed)
Office XP Professional (Access 2000 file format in Access 2002)

And tested in the following environment:

Windows NT SP 6.1
MS Access 2000 (9.0 27200)

Will the testing process manifest any problems and/or errors not caused
by actual problems with the database, but simply because of the
differences (incompatibilit ies) between the development environment and
the testing environment?

If so, what sort of problems/issues should I expect to deal with?

There are situations in which you have to setup a faily sophisticated environment before running your tests. This may result in a long startup time. In my case (using PloneTestCase) the time taken to import all the needed libraries, create a plone site and set up the environment, is so long that practically I cannot use my good old Pentium II for running the test cases. Notice that the problem is not in the time spent on the

I have a small network running off of a SOHO switch. Last week I was connecting to my development computer from a testing computer on the same network - to test the Web app's behavior on different browsers. I have completely rebuilt the computers in question. The development computer is now XP/Pro/SP2 (was Win2K Pro) and the testing computer is now a Win2KPro. The problem is that from the Win2KPro testing computer I cannot open the Web...

Hi, I have been asked to teach a short course on testing in C++. Until now I have used my own testing classes (which from what I've seen seem similar to the boost unit testing classes). Considering I have a limited amount of time what do readers of this group think would be useful to cover in this course? Is boost the way to go? Sorry if this is off-topic in this group.

I have been developing web applications with ASP & Javascript for a long time. I have been using Visual Studio 2003.NET. While VS2003 is okay for intellisense of ASP & Javascript, it's still not that great. One of the cons of ASP & Javascript is that they're both interpreted, which means one has twice the amount of work to do interms of syntax checking & semantic/runtime checking. Another bad thing is that ASP & Javascript doesn't have...

Hi list. What strategies do you use to ensure correctness of new code? Specifically, if you've just written 100 new lines of Python code, then: 1) How do you test the new code? 2) How do you ensure that the code will work correctly in the future? Short version:

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
