Open source is called open for a reason, and the reason is, things
are open. So if you're looking for contributors, write up your
vision of the project and post it somewhere people can read it.
If people have to e-mail you just to see what the project is
about, you're not going to get a lot of interest in it.

Cheers,
NC

Agreed. Sourceforge.net is a good place to start.

It seems that you are wrong because there is still project's owner and
ideologist. So I do not want too many people to know about this
project - or else people can organize things oneself.

So what? As soon as you release it, it will be public anyway. And if
someone wants to create a similar project, they can.

In fact, what's to stop anyone from writing you then starting their own
project once they have your details? Besides absolutely nothing.

You obviously don't understand the concept behind "open source". It is
MEANT to be a public development environment.

Ok, you are right. I'll create project's page, will install TRAC and
prepare other things to make it fully public available.

As I said already, I'll make public available page with idea
explanation, will prepare tasks plan and install TRAC and invite
people to start coding. But I'm still afraid that somebody may realize
the same (but non-free) software faster and get users.

Anton
But why do you think *anyone* would respond to you call if you don't
even say what it's about? I mean, you've put up a whole list of
demands, but don't even disclose anything about yourself, or what
you're up to. Just for the same you might be the "man with the plan"
asking someone else to do all the work (in other words, bogus) - how
are we to tell? And, even when you do release your project, if someone
else thinks he can do the same idea, but better, there's nothing to
stop them. You own the rights to your code, but not to your idea.

Hi all I would like some advice, and I hope that the good people on c.l.p will give me the benefit of their experience. Hello, I just read this mail by Brett Cannon: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2006-October/069139.html where the "PSF infrastracture committee", after weeks of evaluation, recommends using a non open source tracker (called JIRA - never heard before of course) for Python itself. Does this smell "Bitkeeper fiasco" to anyone else than me? --

I am looking for an open source accounting application written in C#. I have looked at maybe doing something with Accounting Express, but I wanted to know some opinions. The reason I am looking for open source is that this package is the same as every other package except some of the rules and deductions are very particular to these clients. The clients are mainly government employees so the package needs to except all the weird...

hi, I'm looking for an open source memory pool. It's for use on an embedded system, if that makes any difference. Something with garbage collection/defragmentation would be nice. It should have the ability to allocate different size chunks of memory not just a single size. It should error check for double free, etc. And it should be usable by a mixture of C and C++ subsystems. If I get that, I'm happy. Thank you very much.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
