Lets suppose I have an class called DatastoreSelect. It has a method
called getNextRow(). This method is not abstract, it is fully
implemented. It also has a method called setInfoToBeSought, which is
abstract in the sense that it has no implementation.
Now suppose I have an class called GetAllComments, which inherits from
DatastoreSelect. GetAllComments does not have a method called
getNextRow(). GetAllComments has a method called...

Hi,
I know that it is illegal in C++ to have a static pure virtual method,
but it seems something like this would be useful when the following 2
conditions hold:
1. You know that every one of your Derived classes will need to
implement some method, but implement it differently, and that the base
class cannot implement it. This is where pure virtual comes in.

Hello,
I did the following with Class A which is a parent and B inherits from
it:
B b1=new B();
A a1=new A();
a1=b1;
Is it an upcasting in c#?
Thank you!

I can't seem to get this subclass to upcast to a baseclass... see
comments below
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
#include "Base.h"
#include "Sub1.h"
using namespace std;

Hi,
I think the code will be the best way to explain what I mean:
#include "arglib/arg_shared.h"
class base {
public:
base() {}
virtual ~base() {}
};

Hi,
Lets say I have an class called Base which is inherited by a class
called Top. Now lets say I want to assign an object of type Base to an
object of type Top, how can I do this so that all the members present
in the Base object are assigned to the corresponding members in the
Top object, with the remaining values set to null?
Thanks for your help,

If I'm not mistaken, general OOP wisdom says that upcasting should
usually be avoided if possible. I have a situation, however, where I
can't think of a better way than upcasting for this specific solution.
I was wondering if there exists a "standard" solution to this which
avoids the upcasting and does it more cleanly.
Assume that we have, for example, some kind of container/editing class
named PrimitiveEditor which handles objects of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
