I have a Solaris machine running Informix and a Linux machine with the
Informix SDK installed. I've been running php scripts for a couple months
now on the Linux box that connect to Informix and do various
queries/updates.
Recently (with no apparent changes to anything of course) these scripts
started failing. They're unable to connect to Informix, and the error
message is "Unable to load locale categories."
I'm looking for tips, hints, or whole answers as to what this means??
Thanks,
Brian McLaughlin

I copy-pasted "Unable to load locale categories", added php and informix to
the query and hit that google search button.
Plenty of hits. You are not the first apparantly, and this question probably
was answered too, judging by the number of hits.
Gluck!

I have had this problem in the past on another machine and fixed it by
setting the environment variables for INFORMIXDIR and INFORMIXSERVER. When
adding the same lines on the new machine I still get the following message:
Warning: ifx_pconnect(): E in
:\webroot\PHPinclude\db_vars.inc on line 7
I tried doing what I did before, but still is not working. Doing
"phpinfo();" The following information is displayed:

Hi,
I am sure if anyone can help me, you guys can!
I am an Informix Developer, moving to Oracle 8i and later databases.
I am struggling to find the Oracle equivelant to many of the useful
Informix features that I have come to rely upon.
I have looked through the Oracle/Infomix groups and some helpful
users have posted some solutions, but many of them seem to be very
complex work-arounds for features that were readily available in

Hi,
I'm developing a socket program to connect to Informix database
through the ODBC. In here i called my socket program as "tap" . My tap
will listen for data from unix through port 1070. After checking of
the data, tap will then insert the data to the informix database. I
know we can point the tap to one specified port in Informix database
through the services file. My question is how should i know to which
port my tap program send out...

Hi,
My company uses Informix as corporative database.
As experienced DBA of the company, I have that to make a study comparing
Oracle, Informix and DB2 databases and suggesting new alternatives.
I have 10 years of experience with Oracle, 2-3 year with DB2 UDB
and few experience with Informix (there are anothers DBAs that manage
Informix here). Anyone have any kind of comparative ?
Or personal opinions that whom good experience with DBs.

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
