Hi All, I have a relatively simple web user control I've included in a page that simply presents 3 drop down lists and a submit button, that I use as a date picker (ie one list for day, one for month, one for year). I have the control registered on the page and it displays fine, but I haven't managed to work out how to get the value(s) back from the control on clicking the submit button (performs a postback). I want to use the date...

Hi all, I am trying to get a way by which I'll know exactly when user goes out of my site by clicking on close button in browser, So that w/e user click close button in browser, I can send a signal to server. This seems to be achievable with body unload events, but it is little too much, as even if user navigate within my site, this event will be generated, this can be avoided by handling onclick of each link, so that I'll know exactly...

This is driving me nuts for last one week. Appreciate any assistance. I have ASP.NET web application with many pages. Some of them post back to itself and then links to another page. Everything was working great so far. Recently we did some modifications (included a new page) and after that things have gone ugly. This is the issue: Lets say the user has browsed through number of pages, came to one particular page (search), posted the...

Hi! Once again I have hit a brick wall here. I have a combobox in which the user types the server name and then clicks on button 'CONNECT' to populate the next combobox which contains all the databases in that server. Then after the user selects a database, I have another button that he/she click and I want to retrieve file groups from a specific table. At this point when he/she clicks on that button I get an error:

Hello, I'm working, basically my first, AJAX page and am having a few problems. One is that the Click event for a button I have in UpdatePanel1 is not getting called. I've tried with the button both inside and outside of the updatepanel and the event doesn't get called either way. What might I be missing here? Incidently, something else, kind of weird, is happening when the button is clicked, a required field validator control in a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
