When I try to display a web page with php embedded, the <%php .. %> part
is completely ignored, so it seems.
For example, the next code yields a blank page when displayed in a browser:
<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>
<?php
$today = date("l");
print("Hello: it's $today" );
?>
</h1>
</body>
</html>
Running this program from the command line (php <filename>) yields a
correctly expanded stream of data.
My guess is that is has something todo with the configuration of the
(Apache) server. But what??????

Apache/1.3.28 (Linux/SuSE) PHP/4.3.3 mod_perl/1.28 configured --

Thanks in advance

How are you loading the page? Is it on the local server?
If yes, then specify...
http:/localhost/htdoc/page.php
If you're opening the file from the local filesystem you're getting: http:///directory/page.php
PHP won't be interpreted.

I'm trying to design an HTML page that can edit itself. In essence, it's
just like a Wiki page, but my own very simple version. It's a page full
of plain old HTML content, and then at the bottom, there's an "Edit"
link. So the page itself looks something like this:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>blah</TITLE></HEAD><BODY>
<!-- TEXT STARTS HERE -->
<H1>Hello World!</H1>
<P>More stuff here...</P>

Hello all,
I'd like to know and understand the difference between, say,
<img src="/ImageFilename.png" width="123" height="456" alt="">
and
<img src="/ImageFilename.png" style="width: 123px; height: 456px;"
alt="">

Hi, I've been working on this for a while now and I can't seem to find
out what is wrong with my code. I have 2 files one c3common.js which
only contains javascript functions for my main html page and my main
html page which is test.html. They are of course part of a much bigger
system of files but i have tracked down the problem to that reduced
part of the code. The page loads perfectly fine however when i click
search i get the error...

there's a HTML odditity. That is, line break will be ignored inside
<preif the adjacent lines are tags.
see the source code and description here:

if anyone know the spec for XML case, please let me know. Thanks.

I'm working on examples of programming in several languages, all
(except PHP) running under CGI so that I can show both the source
files and the actually running of the examples online. The first
set of examples, after decoding the HTML FORM contents, merely
verifies the text within a field to make sure it is a valid
representation of an integer, without any junk thrown in, i.e. it
must satisfy the regular expression: ^ *?+ *$
If the...

If the left-hand column contains any text, use em rather than

In CSS, less is more. Most problems are caused by specifying too
much rather than too little. The default width of a block
element is 100%; you don't need to specify it.

The only browser I have encountered that supports
<colgroup><col class="behold"></colgroup>
to apply a CSS style to a whole column, is Microsoft Internet
Explorer. I have been told it SHOULD NOT do so, since this is not
part of the specification.
How then to you apply styles to entire columns? Surely you don't have
to write
<td class="behold"on every row item.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
