Looking for a book to help me develop a philosophy for building
databases (particularly on MySQL). And then taking them from concept to
construction.
Something like.... Start by asking which queries you will be performing,
then define all data needed for each of those queries, then progress to
normalize this data, etc.
Any Ideas....thanks...

that was very valuable to many users of this group. It was a very thick and
well-written book that was compiled by a frequent visitor here.
I cannot find the title, and I was also wondering if the book would assist
someone is using MySql as a database for a shopping-type Web site.

What I am trying to do is to take the contents of a very large text
file and place it into a LONGTEXT field in a database. I am looking
for a solution using the C API to help me handle this. The code I use
right now is very ineffecient. I basically use a VERY large character
array that is like 600,000 characters long and store an UPDATE query to
the database in this. I place the contents of the file being uploaded

separate static contents from dynamic contents, so that the former can
be compiled once into cache.

First thing i ever wrote in perl and it doesnt work.
I'm using xampp as my localhost - with perl installed on that. When i run this (http://localhost/mysql.pl) it just prints out the contents of the file and not an array if the databases...
