I'm trying to find the best way to allow web visitors to download text
files (.txt, .wri & .zap file extensions).
I'm having some luck. I say some because the open/save box opens with IE
but not Netscape. On Netscape rather than give the user the save option
it simply displays the file. I also see problems on the mac platform -
no save box - it displays the file as in netscape.
Is there a universally accepted way of doing this sort of...

We're creating a file sharing area in our intranet. When a user clicks
on a link they can save the file to their computer. When the file is
done downloading and the 'File Download' dialog closes I want to update
the database to flag that file as checked out. Because we don't want
anyone else to download it until the file has been re-uploaded.
Does anyone know how I can know when the dialog closes? It would also
be good to know if the...

Seems it should be simple. I had problems with a larger
class and the newsgroup suggested something I also tried.
So I pruned my class to see if I could find out what could
be wrong, Still dont know. This snippet is easily dropped
into any project, THANKS
namespace QCLoader
{
public class disksetitem

Hello,
I noticed an unexplained (for me) behaviour while wrapping unmanaged virtual
methods.
This is the test situation:
An unmanaged class has four methods defined DoIt1 .. DoIt4. Each method just
returns false.
DoIt3 and DoIt4 are virtual methods defined in the base class MyBase of my
unmanaged code.

Hi
I'm using client-side JavaScript to set window.location.href to an
ASP.NET page that outputs an audio file; the user is prompted for the
download location. I would also like to download an XML file when the
audio file has finished downloading. I've been experimenting with
opening a new window for the XML download, but it doesn't seem like a
very good solution. Any ideas?

Hi guys,
I'm using Classic ASP, IIS6, IE 7, FF 3
I've developed a vb script to downloand files hosted in my server (zip, doc,
pdf, jpg, xls, et. etc.) it's very straight forward and there's a lot of
information around the web, however when it comes to dowload files from a
remote server (NOT hosted in my server) there is no information :-(, the
idea is to have an Access DB that stores the full url...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
