Hello, after a recent move to windows API from terminal I come across
a small problem. How can I execute a program without using stdlib.h ?
Before I would use stdlib.h by using a command such as
system("myprogram.exe");
to execute a program. When using windows API the terminal window pops
up and carries out the command in the terminal. This looks ugly, and I
am looking for an alternative to executing a program without the use
of terminal...

Hi,
I suppose this post could fall under comp.os.linux/comp.os.unix as
well, but I figured since my end goal was control from C++ code I
figured this group might be the place to start.
As the subject states, is it possible to control an xterm running on a
linux desktop from another standalone program? For example, suppose I
have program running inside an xterm on the desktop. From another
piece of software I would like to be able to...

Hello, all, and TIA for any help you can offer. I've searched the
Internet for answers and have finally come here.
I've created a page (several, actually) with a link that opens a pop-up
window. It's a pop-up window in the sense that it's smaller than the
man page and is intended to be viewed and then closed.
The problem is that if I include a link on that pop-up window HTML
page, when the link is clicked the new page opens IN the...

I spent about an hour getting this today ...
For you cygwin users who want to run db2 commands
like you'd run them from a UNIX environment ....
Create a C:/cygwin/usr/X11R6/bin/startlocalxterm.bat
script like this one and start your xterm session using
this.
Note the use of db2cmd /w /i

Hi there,
I have a link on my web page. When clicked, opens up a pdf file that is
stored on my server. Every file is specific to a user's user name and I
don't want users to see each other's files.
For example:
When User1 clicks on the link, it opens up
http://mydomain.com/files/user1.pdf
and when User2 clicks on the link, it opens up
http://mydomain.com/files/user2.pdf.

I'm a net admin for about 20 unix servers, and I need to frequently
telnet on to them and configure them.
It is a tiring job to open a xterm and telnet, username, password to
each server.
Can I do it automatically by python? After that, there have 20 xterm
consoles opened and telneted to their corresponding servers. Then I
could start to type command in these xterms.
Any suggestion appreciate. Much thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
