value becomes empty after used once. originated in a textarea

look at this code, it gets a record and prints the column values:
$rs = $conn->Execute("SELEC T * FROM products WHERE ID = ".$_GET['mID']);
$id = $rs->Fields("ID") ;
$nm = $rs->Fields("name") ;
$ds = $rs->Fields("desc") ;
$ct = $rs->Fields("cat" );
$tt = $rs->Fields("title" );
$pp = $rs->Fields("picpat h");
echo $id->value."<br>nm: ".$nm->value."<br>ds: ".$ds->value."<br>ct: ".$ct->value."<br>tt: ".$tt->value."<br>pp: ".$pp->value."<br>" ;
echo $id->value."<br>nm: ".$nm->value."<br>ds: ".$ds->value."<br>ct: ".$ct->value."<br>tt: ".$tt->value."<br>pp: ".$pp->value."<br>" ;

the last two line are identical, echoing the values i took out of the recordset. look at this output now:

-see the empty 'ds' ? why does it become empty after one use? a hint might be that this value was inserted to the db from a textarea....
