I need some help with a registration/login and admin panel..PLEASE
email me if you can help me out on this.. I like to get this site up
and going and see where it goes. If I can get a reliable coder and fair
priced one then the will be a significant bonus to follow down the

Paul, that is why there is an email.. use it please..

1. Topposting, kick that habit.
2. Look into netiquettte. It's not done to ask people to mail, instead of
the other way around as you seem to believe.
3. One of the rules, is look into a ng's culture. The frasing "a significant
bonus to follow down the road" is a red alert, and not in a good way, to
anyone mildly familiar with newsgroups.
4. Please be more specific in the project. "a registration/login and admin
panel" is way to broad. I can make you a 'panel' where you can register,
login, and play admin in 10 minutes. The functionality that derives from the
logging in/registering/being admin is the question.

mountain out of a mole hill.. for pets sake I asked for help and you
guys do this..I guess this show other how what you are like.... For me

It's you who is making an ass of himself. There really are certain rules,
customs and habits that define how a person "behaves" when writing to a
newsgroup. It's treat others like you want to be treated. Now you're
wondering how you've managed to upset lots of people - by not giving a shit
about the rules and making up your own, that's how. By doing that you've
made clear that you wish to be treated like the arrogant bastard that you
are and that's what you are getting.

This happens when cultures meet at 200mph. You come from another kind of
background, you're used to getting things done your way and suddenly you
find yourself in the middle of a php newsgroup where things are a bit
different. You don't get what you want, you don't understand why people are
pissed off and above all you think you are being polite...

To be able to communicate with the group, you and the group should accept
same rules of behaviour. It's you against the group. Do you think that you
should accept the groups ways and habits or should the group accept your
ways and customs? The easier way would be that you try to adopt the habits
of the group. First by looking into what "netiquette " is. You can start at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette . Then you loose the fucking
know-it-all attitude and accept that you're the minority. Then and only then
you can expect decent answers. Until that, "fuck you" and "don't top-post"
etc will be the answers you get. I'm not saying this because I'm evil or
judgemental. I'm just stating the facts you've missed and trying to help you
to help yourself.

They are not random, nor made up by a bunch of powerhungy maniacs: the rules
have settled themself through many years and are aimed at efficiency and
easy-of-use for all participants.

I admit, allthough the list was indeed meant as constructive critisism, and
not a rant, I could have been more elegant. It's just so easy to to
communicate certain points in a short, direct, manner :-).

Offcourse, had I followed netiquette to the letter, I should have sent him a
nice e-mail explaining some things, instead of posting this in the ng. Keeps
the thread on topic (yeah right, that possibility has long gone), and the
poster informed.

The problem is, with some posters, one is afraid for an overspilling
mailbox, so one posts it to a ng to not only make the point clear the poster
in question, but also to inform others the point has been made, and further
e-mails explaining the fault is not necessary.

lostconnection: my reply was meant as a pointer, not a flame. Following
netiquette not only makes things a lot clearer, it will make you appear more
trustworthy / serious to your intended audience. Most (elas not all) codes
have heard of netiquette, and follow it (allthough sometimes just roughly).
I stand by the actual content of the reply I gave you, which apart from
using netiquette is:

1. A phrase like "a significant bonus to follow down the road" will mostly
repel instead of attract the competent, serious coders.
2. By describing more detailed what your exact intentions and needs are,
people are more able to determin wether they want and/or are able to take on
your project, and what the actual time needed/costs are. It will help a lot
in sifting the replies and quotes you get.

(numbered list instead of bulleted/dashed, isn't that nice :) )

I like to think Chung Leong was being _subtly_ sarcastic. You were more
than elegant enough, and much more polite than many.

As for bulleted lists, they are a suscinct and effective way to get
several points across.

yes, and in fact unless you were 100% on topic to his original request
(which was basicaly for a coder's resume) then your email might well be
considered spam - so the more I think about it, the more it seems like
posting your response was the most appropriate thing to do.
