I've got users uploading a file, which I then want resize, make a thumbnail out of, then delete. The image and thumbnail are working fine, but when I try to delete the image, I get an error: "The process cannot access the file "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\pictures\1\21_orig.jpg" because it is being used by another process. " I'm using the Image.Dispose() method before trying to delete it; how do I free up this image? Thanks in advance,

I’m wrote a small DLL that used the FreeImage.DLL (that can be found at http://www.codeproject.com/bitmap/graphicsuite.asp). I also wrote a small console application in C++ (unmanaged) that uses the DLL above. Now the application, together with the above DLL’s is successfully loading a TIF image file (62992 x 113386 Pixels, Huffman RLE compression, 3200 x 3200 DPI resolution, binary colored (1 Bit Per Pixel), file on disk size 43.08...

Hello, I am running into a problem with my code and can't seem to figure out the solution. I know it has to do with the pciture box control and unloading the image inthe picture box but I can't seem to figure out the correct way to "unload" the file. I have a simple form with a picture box and a button. I am using dir() to get all the the .tif files and display them in the pciture box. Each time the button it pressed it displays the...

I am developing an application that possibly opens very large images - bmp, jpeg, tiff. I have 2 questions: Language: C#, VS .NET 2003. 1. When the program opens a BMP image, the amount of memory used seems to be larger for BMP files than JPEGs with the same pixel dimensions. For example, 5200 x 5000 pixels image -- increase in Mem Usage is about 80MB for JPEG, but 200MB for BMP (with Task Manager). The Mem Usage is noted before and...

Hello all, I am currently implementing a fairly simple algorithm. It scans a grayscale image, and computes a pixel's new value as a function of its original value. Two passes are made, first horizontally and second vertically. The problem I have is that the vertical pass is 3 to 4 times slower than the horizontal, although the code is _exactly_ the same in both cases?! The code itself is very simple. There are 2 loops to scan through...

Hello. I have a process that can take a long time and I'm trying to put an animated gif while the user is waiting. I added a panel with a picturebox with the image inside. The panel is not visible when the application starts, but before the process, I make it visible. The problem is that while the long process is running, the image doesn't appear. The panel is empty.

Hi all Does anybody please know a way to extract an Image from a pdf file and save it as a TIFF? I have used a scanner to scan documents which are then placed on a server, but I need to extract the image of the document (just the first page if there are multiple pages) and save it as a TIFF so I can then use the Tesseract OCR to get the text in the image.

hi again to everyone! I made a simple program(for my VB.Net practice). The program loads an image file to a picturebox upon clicking a button. after loading the image file i have another button to delete the loaded image file from the directory. But I have a problem deleting the image file used by the picturebox even if I set the "PictureBox1.Image = Nothing" before deletion takes place. The error says, "The process cannot access the file...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
