PHP slow on solaris

Hi Everyone,

Does anybody knows why php runs so damm slow on solaris.
PHP works fine, but if you use the array function it get really slow.

everyone could try it on different platforms.

fill a array with 100.000 elements in a loop and you will see what i mean.

debugger output shows that php ist trying to get memory for each element.
--> anybody know how to tune this in solaris or php ?

Debugger:
0.1952 brk(0x005923A8) = 0
0.1954 brk(0x005923A8) = 0

We are using a really old version of Solaris 2.6. Mysql.com site does not seem to have mysql binaries for this version of Solaris. The earliest version they have is for Solaris 8, which I believe is same as Solaris 2.8. Is there a place where we can download mysql 4.x for Solaris 2.6 or we have to upgrade Solaris. TIA. Ravi

So, I download the latest "stable" tar for perl (5.8.7) and try to compile it on the Solaris 8 (SPARC) box that I administrate. I try all sorts of different switches, but I can't get it to compile. I need it to be compiled with threads. Anyone have any wisdom on how best to do this? Here's a transcript of my latest attempt. It's long; you might want to skip to the bottom, where I try "make" and the fatal errors start happening.

Hi all, I'm constantly confronted with the following two techniques, which I believe often produce less readable code, but I am told are faster therefore better. Can anyone help me out with counter examples and arguments? 1. The STL is slow. More specifically vector. The argument goes like this:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
