how does one shorten an array based on a key value.
Say I have this:
array("Car1"=>" Porsche","Car2" =>"Merc","Car3" =>"Ford","Car4" =>"Toyota");
and I want to pop "Car2" out of the array, leaving the rest of the elements.
array_pop appears to just pop the last element off the array - I want to pop
ANY element out of the array, thus shortening it.
Is there an easy way to do this, without resorting to iteration loops? 2 4910

First thing I thought about was
unset($array_na me['Car2']);

You might want to check array_slice at http://www.php.net/array_slice

That works fine Pedro. I didn't realise that you could unset a specific
array element.

I have a guestbook on one of my sites where the entires are formatted to be
x pixles in width. Now the text is input and output from a "blob" field
from a database... but when people input long URL's into their entries, the
formatting of the page is ruined.
Can anyone suggest a way for PHP to "read through" the text and substitute
a URL with a short text link, but still keeping the URL so it's clickable?
From my observations, the URL's...

Hello all,
Okay, I am having some troubles. What I am doing here is dealing with
an employee hierarchy that is stored in an array. It looks like this:
$employees = array( "user_id" => array( "name", "title",
"reports to user id", "start date in the format: mm/dd/yyyy" )
);
How can I display this hierarchy in simple nested <li> tags in the most

How do I remove an item with a specified value from an array?
i.e. array values 1,2,2,5,7,12,15,21
remove 2 from array would return
1,5,7,12,15,21
(12 and 21 are NOT removed, duplicates are also removed)
So far I have (val is value, ar is array, returns new array):

I tried using the "toUpperCase()" property to change the value of an array
entity to uppercase BUT it tells me that the property is invalid. It seems
that an array is not considered an object when it is assigned a text
literal?? HOW can I change the array value to upper case then? What other
method exists for arrays?
Ex:
var GridArrayName1 = new Array();
GridArrayName1 = new Array ('test-value');
GridArrayName1 = GridArrayName1...

Hi, i'm unsure of the versions of MySQL and PHP I'm using (although my webhost 'guarantees' the latest), but I don't think the answer would vary that much between versions.
Now to the point:
I'm trying to echo text fetched from a database into a 128px width column, which doens't always fit. I'd like to know how to shorten the results of an array using '...'s like: 'Amer...' or 'Urag...' instead of 'America' or 'Uraguay'.
Thank you,...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
