I am using the script as below, but there is a problem, in Netscape, and
Mozilla Firebird, a .php is added to the filename when the user is prompted
to save, it's ok in Internet Explorer and Opera though:
$filename="/home/myUserName/filename.exe";
header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=filename.exe");
header("Content-Type: application/octet-stream");
header("Content-Length: ".@filesize("$filename"));
readfile("$filename");

I have written a pair of scripts that are supposed to work together to
display an index of files and then, upon the user choosing the files (with
checkboxes on an HTML form submitted to itself), tar/gzip the file and
send it to them.
To this end the first script performs an exec() call and generates the
archive (it's a random number but we'll call it foo.bar.tar.gz) and then
writes a META tag into the page after it submits the HTML form...

Hi, I have made a php page where people can configure a javascript online
with a preview and then dowload the result. Here is the code:
<?
// Some code that create a temp file ($file handler = $fd) and write the
script
// Send the file
header("content-type: text/plain");
header("Content-length: ".filesize($file));
header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="script_name.js"');

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has ever successfully used SA-FileUp's download
feature. I am being forced to change from
"ASPSmartUpload" as the server I am moving everything to is using SAFileUp
version 3.2.
I ran through their documentation and found a section called "secure
download", unfortunately, their examples do not work
at all!
On Netscape 7, the file "pretends" to download (after changing the file

I am trying to allow a user to view a PDF in a new window. I
currently have this working using the following:
<a href="./pdf.do?parameter=01121980" target="top"><b>pdf</b></a>
The problem with the above solution is the back/forward buttons and
all the other browser options. Because of this, I am trying to get
the following solution to work:
<a href="#" onclick="popUp('./pdf.do?parameter=01121980')"><b>pdf</b></a>

Hello,
I have a web site that has an audio file on it that I make available for
download. Right now I'm using the "right-click/save-as" approach. This is
because left-clicking the link to the audio file initiates client-side
streaming/playing of the audio file. Is there a way with Javascript to make
a left-click trigger a download of the file instead?
BTW, I don't want to have convert the mp3 file to winzip to make this
happen,...

I'm trying to find the best way to allow web visitors to download text
files (.txt, .wri & .zap file extensions).
I'm having some luck. I say some because the open/save box opens with IE
but not Netscape. On Netscape rather than give the user the save option
it simply displays the file. I also see problems on the mac platform -
no save box - it displays the file as in netscape.
Is there a universally accepted way of doing this sort of...

I'm trying to script a download counter that will display the total
number on the download page without server-side scripting.
Below is my very incomplete beginning. It returns no errors, but does
nothing:
<script language="JavaScript">
function addClicks() {
total = "form1.value";
form1.value = (eval(total.value) + (1));

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
