I'm using the following meta tag with my documents:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content=
"text/html; charset=us-ascii" />
and yet using character entities like ’ and —
It validates at W3C and WDG, and runs in standards compliance mode
in Firefox 0.9. What I'm wondering is, is this a good practice? I
assume my pages will load faster if declared as using the

There seems to be character limits that only apply to mssql_select_db
where the database has a fairly long name like
'FISH_STURGEON_GUPPIES_ACTIVATION' is cut down to
'FISH_STURGEON_GUPPIES_ACTIVATI' and of course fails WITH THE FOLLOWING

OK here's is what I wish to do. I have an XML file that I want to read
into an XmlDocument. I then want to be able to interrogate the
XmlNodes to find both their start AND end character positions within
the original file.
So e.g.
<tagA><tagB>sometext</tagB></tagA>

Hi, I am loading a CSV file ( Comma Seperated Value) into a Richtext box. I have a routine that splits the data up when it hits
the "," and then copies the results into a listbox. The data also has some different characters in it that I am trying to
remove. The small a with two dots over it and the small y with two dots over it. Here is my code so far to remove the small y:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal...

Hi,
I have an XML file that was created as a DOM tree in .Net 1.1 and serialized
to disk. If I try to put character code 1 inside one of the attributes
(don't ask why), it seems to serialize perfectly ok and I get a file that
looks like this:
<element attribute="" />
which looks perfectly valid but won't open up with an XML viewer because it

I want to build a web form that has text areas with max character limits, and ensure that the text generated from the form will fit within allotted spaces in an InDesign Print Template. The text areas will contain headers and paragraphs.
My problem is, how do I determine the max character limit? A text area that comfortably fits 1000 characters when there are 2 or 3 headers will not fit 1000 characters if there are, say, 15+ headers—since...

Hello everyone,
Thanks again for all the suggestions, though I think some people are a
bit fussy in their answers.
Here is a solution to Exercise 1.14. It deals well with control
characters too.
// make histogram of character frequencies

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
