I understand, that PHP4 has a MySQL client built in.
I was warned, that this client does not support the MySQL 4.1.1
system, which I installed on my RH9 box end that I need to install
that version myself in PHP4.
Now how do I install that MySQL client in my PHP4 ?
Or is is easier/smarter to use another MySQL version, one that IS
supported directly by PHP4 ?

Hi folks-
I'm about to move from a Solaris 8/SPARC environment to a Dell running
RedHat 9. Are there any issues I need to be aware of in bringing my
Python code over (mostly scientific computation)? In particular, I know
earlier versions of RH shipped with an "old" Python installed as "python"
and that installation of more recent versions should not overwrite
"python" (e.g., install as "python2.3"). Is this still the case in RH9?
Any...

Hi -
I just added a shiny Dell server running Red Hat 9 to my office
intranet. I noticed that it has python2.2 installed, not 2.3. I
found rpms for python2.3 on the python.org site, and the page mentions
that the rpms are meant to peacefully coexists with the redhat python2.2
rpms.
Has anyone installed these 2.3 rpms while keeping the old 2.2 rpms and
has anyone had any problems with these?

I have been asked to copy a handfull of table spaces in to new
identical table spaces so that they can be accessed with out running
into the nightly batch update. I first did a FULLCOPY with SHARELEVEL
REFERENCE of the table space. Then I copied the DDL used to create the
original object and changed the table space name, table name, index
names and made sure that the priqty/secqty were adequate to hold the
data. I then created the objects...

Hi all, I have just upgraded my system from redhat 7.3 to redhat 9.0,

received the following error message when I try to run my applicatin:
relocation error: /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.10: symbol errno, version

I already have PHP4 and Apache running on my Ubuntu (Breezy version)
Linux system. It's for my web development. However, for special
rich-client idea I have, I wanted to compile a second PHP4 but this
time with Lighthttpd. Then, I want it to be self-contained in its own
directory and not touch any other directories on the workstation such
as /etc, /var, /usr, etc. I just want it all to go into a directory
such as ~/richclient and then fire...

Back again for another question. I have a form that I want to pass one
value to an xsl file to use when the xml is displayed. I have been told
that I have to pass the value to php and then do a transform using xlst
processor in php and have looked into this. I thought maybe I was on the
right track with this but apparently I am stuck with PHP version 4.3.9
which to the best of my knowledge doesn't have the xslt_create and
xslt_process...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
