Sorry for repeated posting but I couldnt get things right/completely
in the first post.
I am in the process of deciding the IPC mechanisms to use for
communication between
1) An application API (which would be set up as a NT service). It
could be C++ or C#. The API as such might be talking to the
underlying application (UA) via WM_COPYDATA messages.

Hello all. For a long time now I have been struggling with a .net
Windows Forms problem. In several of my applications, I use the
"Process" class from System.Diagnostics to accomplish various task
from within my code (kind of like the old VB shell function). Using
this process class appears to be just one example of what causes my
Windows forms to look really crazy when running the application. In
fact this has become not only a cosmetic...

Who can tell me the mechanisms of CPU time-slice allocation among processes in Windows 2000? Any difference to UNIX?
I wrote an application on the console but found that it was running very slowly while the console's windows was not put on the top. What are the differences in the CPU time-slice allocation among Windows Applications, Console Applications and Windows Services

Hi,
I have written a Windows Service component in C# which manages processes on
the server. The code is required to terminate these processes when they
timeout. The Windows Service runs under the SYSTEM account. I check in code
whether the user belongs to the Administrators group using the
WindowsPrinciple class which it does. When it comes to terminating the
processes using the Process class, I am not able to terminate the processes....

Hello all,
I would like to set a Windows Environment variable for another
(non-child) process.
This means that the following *doesn't* work : ::
os.environ = value
In the ``win32api`` package there is a ``GetEnvironmentVariable``

Hi,
I managed to create a Windows Form Control and put it on my ASP .NET page. I
have done the suggestion that is provided by modifying the security settings.
From the stack trace, I would assume that the code throws exception when it
is trying to retrieve the processes list that has certain name. Below is the
code that I use to retrieve the processes.
Process processes = Process.GetProcessesByName("xxxx");

Hi,
I still have the same problem with embedding Windows Control. I'll just
requote what I posted last time:

I have a Windows command line based application that only shuts down
cleanly if it sees "CTRL-C" on the console. I need to automate the
running of this application, but still allow the user sitting at the
machine to cancel the process cleanly if he/she needs to. In Unix this
would be a tiny shell script that used "kill -15", but under Windows
there does not seem to be an easy way to do this, at least that I can
find.
Below is a test...

I just started using Windows Live OneCare, I had been using Norton, but was
unable to fix the problems I was having. I have yet been unsuccessful with
OneCare as well. I keep getting the same warning from OneCare, one is for
Adware, the other is for a trojan, I clean both, but almost immediatly, I get
the same warning? My Windows Defender is also shut down, not by me as I have
no idea how to do this(or to turn it back on), but am still...

Hi all,
I've always wondered why os.kill isn't supported on Windows. I found a
discussion somewhere from 2006 about this so it seems others have
wanted it, but still nothing. So I have a half-baked solution
involving calling "taskkill" on Windows Vista or "tskill" on Windows
XP via the shell. I feel there has to be a better way.
I'm also fairly confused about when I've got an ID and when I've got a
handle. The subprocess module gives...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
