Automatic refresh of screen.

Bob
I have a monitor in a public place and I want the page to automatically
refresh, approximately every 5 minutes.

What is the best way to do this?

It is a .php page accessing a mysql database.

Thanks

Just plant this in the HEAD section of the HTML output:

<META http-equiv="Refresh" content="300;ht tp://dom.ain/path/to/sript.php">

Of course, you can use any of the "http-equiv" meta-tags as Headers
instead:

<?php header("Refresh : 300;url=http://whatever"); ?>

I wouldn't do that. The HTTP specifications don't actually define a
"Refresh" header; this is just a hack supported in the client software.

Bob,

Depending on the platform, you can use a javascript refresh also with a
meta refresh (the meta refresh was already stated). The reason for
doing both is just incase that certain things are not working as they
are supposed to.

As client software depends on the implementation. You might as well use
both. Because if the stop button is hit or somehow forced you can loop
the javascript for every n seconds.

Hi, I'm a complete beginner in Javascript and php ... so forgive me for asking an easy/simple solution to the following problem: I'm developing an application that involves multi-screen in different windows. One of my windows involves an automatic refresh every 99 sec. The problem is that the window is coming into focus each time the refresh occurs. How can I prevent this from happening? Thank you in advance for any suggestions....

I have a working PHP/MySQL application used for data entry. The data entry screen includes a "Save" button. The PHP code for this button looks like this: if (isset($_POST)) { if ($_POST == "") { include ("InsertRecord.inc"); // Insert new record }

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro SP4 and Office 2000 Pro Sp3. I have some dynamic database pages that I do not want a user to see from their local cache of pervious visits to this page. When these individual pages are called, I would always want them refreshed from the server. This is no matter what setting is used by the local browser. The closest KB article I found was Q200131, but that was not helpful to me.

Hi, In my application, the main page is accessed via a login screen. A particular record is accessed based on the value of login page. Everything works fine. However, if this screen is kept idle (not sure for how long now), and then if I try to save, the following error message comes up: Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E14) Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'SubgrantIntID ='....

Hi: As in the "Wizard of Oz", I want people to "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain", by freezing the screen while a whole lot of things happen. I know about ECHO OFF, but this appears to reset when forms are opened and under other conditions. Are there any commands (Screen Refresh=False?) that will stop screen refreshing until another command is encountered that turns the screen refreshing on again? Thanks in advance.

By default, the iPhone will only check for new emails manually when you open the Mail screen or when you tap the refresh icon (the icon in the lower left screen of the email list). You can configure your iPhone to automatically check for new emails by following these easy steps. Tap on the Settings icon in the home screen and tap the Mail button. In the new screen that slides over, look for the Auto-Check option in the Messages section. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
