lazyness: They think it is easier to ask someone than to RTFM. At first,

Same here, so most of the time I will send a link to the correct manual
pages. That way the next person that has a very similar question may
check out the llink first. Besides, when you know the manuals from
reading them so much, you tend to be able to find things that others
can't because of the terms they are looking for...

Earlier some guy asked about php and ms access. I did a google
search: php microsoft access
Behold the first hit was a tutorial on PHP with Microsoft Access on
phpfreaks.com.
I still think too many people don't life a finger. I learned
everything on my own through books, bad web tutorials and writing code
and trying things out.

Considering that most people using PHP are dabbling, it does not
surprise me.
I am a professional programmer and find that MOST of my colleagues do
not RTFM so the fact that non-pro's don't either is hardly surprising.
Especially the newer, younger people.
Me, I find I usually get more accurate answers from the manual than the
so-called experts. The only exception is getting the nuance of a
function that may not be covered by a technical manual. IE: How/when to
use a function and which might be better if there are alternatives.

Once I get the time, I'm going to put up some kind of Wiki/faq-o-matic/cms
article system for putting faqs, tips, etc on, so we can just point people
at it. The main concerns are security (no Wiki terrorists!) and bandwidth -
I've had trouble finding something else of this nature (like the css-discuss
wiki at http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ ), which suggests that if it takes
off, the bandwidth and server loading could be an important concern...
If you have any thoughts on the best way to do this, or what you'd like to see,

a buffer which I re-allocate the size as I read each file. I read some
of the items from the bottom up of the buffer, and some from the
top down, moving the bottom items back to the new re-allocated
bottom on every file read.
Then when I've read all four files, I sort the top and bottom items
