Hello All,
I've been struggling for years now trying to come up with a solution
to a very personal programming problem with Python. I'm an
educational programmer, and I make applications that are used in
educational environments by nontechnical folks. I therefore need GUIs
that are pretty, easy to use, and cross platform (win, mac, linux,
unix). In my search for a GUI, I've also come to the conclusion that
as much as I love Python,...

I'm getting my feet wet with making Python talk to MySQL via ODBC. I
started on Windows, and it went smoothly enough due to the ODBC stuff
that apparently is native to Python at least on windows (I've been
following ch. 13 of Mark Hammond's py on win32 book).
But now I'm trying to do equivalent stuff on linux (Fedora Core 3) with
python 2.3.5 and mysql. I'd like to stick with packages that are
native to python, rather than relying on...

I wonder how many people are using db2 on Windows?
I know db2 is native to AS400 which has about 800,000 installations.
Thanks!

Hello,
Please forgive my reposting of this note with hopefully a more relevant
subject line.
On an Access 2000 form under Windows 2000 I would like to use a Kodak Image
Edit Control to display the contents of a TIFF image file. According to the
very limited documentation that I have been able to locate so far, all I
should need to do is to drop the Image Edit Control onto the form in design
mode, set the control's Image property to...

Is it possible that in some future version of Windows, only .NET (CLR) PE
(Portable Executables) .exe will be enabled to run. I.e. the OS will not
support running of native x86 code .exes/dlls?
I understand native is needed for drivers etc. but at some point the driver
spec may even require MSIL and MSIL will add instructions to support drivers.

I have a native Win32 C++ app built with Visual Studio 2005. I'd like to
make use of a property grid control in this app. For an example of this, in
Visual Studio, see the properties control (select something in a dialog from
the dialog editor or a class from the class list and hit F4).
I used Spy++, which revealed that the window class of the property grid
control used by Visual Studio is "WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.378734a".
So,...

Hello.
I'm doing some prep work before taking the vb.net brainbench.
I noticed one of the topics is :
Consuming resources - Windows Native Calls
Where can I get more info on this? What exactly is a Windows Native
call? Controls that talk to the OS?

Hi,
I am a game developer, sometimes "indy" and sometimes for a small-sized
company. I can't speak for all game developers, but everywhere I've ever
seen people working on games, execution speed has always been the most
important constraint in writing code. Writing readable and maintainable
code is important, but takes a back seat to execution speed.
I work with DirectX and/or OpenGL, always in C++. There are plenty of
things that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
