I have a java app that generates openoffice docs. When I run the java app in a shell script, as:
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/corp/projects/metrics/Java/jdk1.5.0_07/bin/java
export CONST_LOC=/home/methct/metrics/MGConfig/staging_8103.xm l
$JAVA_HOME view.main.Metri csMainFrame $CONST_LOC
I can close the openoffice doc that are generated by the java app, with no issues.
The problem is when I fire the java app from the perl script using the system call, then I won't be able to close the open office docs unless I close the java app.
here is how I call it in perl:
my $sys_call = join (' ', $java_home, $metrics_gui);
$sys_call = join ('',$sys_call, ' "', $mgconfig, '"');
# commands to run the MG GUI with $mgconfig as an input
system ($sys_call);
I tried to use exec and backtick (``) commands to fire the java app from the perl script but still same result.
Please let me know of your thoughts

I have an MDI application which opens a number of child windows, each of
which could have data in a state that needs to be saved. Each child window
catches its Closing event and cancels it if the user wants to save the data,
but when the Application closes this event isn't thrown automatically. I
added a loop to close each child window, but can't seem find how to catch
the child window's cancel of the Closing event, so even if the user...

Hello:
I am encountering a very weird issue with MDI child, Overriden WndProc
function and hidden form.
Basically, the application has two forms, Form1(parent form),
Form2(Child form), Form2's WndProc method is overriden, if the message
is CLOSE message, just hide the form. I first initialize and show the
child form, then close it by clicking the Close(X) button, the
overriden WndProc method gets invoked, and the form is hidden. Then

I am writing an MDI app that uses a document manager class
to keep track of opened child windows. I want the user to
be able to close a child window, but then re-open the
window from the "Window" menu if they want.
What happens to the child window after it is closed? Even
though my document manager maintains the instance of the
child and displays the name in the menu, when I try to use
the show() method or the activate() method on a...

Hi,
I have an MDI application which has aboout 10 child windows. The way
the app needs to work is that only one window should be visible at a
time and it should be maximized within the parent window. I have set
all my child windows to be WindowState.Maximized but after showing 2
or 3 windows, the windows all drop back to Normal state.
I have tried various things to overcome this inclusing overriding
OnResize etc but none seem to give...

I did a ton of searching to try and find a simple solution to this issue and finally wrote my own, which I am sharing with everyone. In my searching, I did find a very complete and robust solution at
http://weblogs.asp.net/asmith/archive/2003/09/15/27684.aspx
but it was far more complex then I needed. (I got lost trying to figure it all out). Therefore, here goes my simple "web dialog box with parent event handler fireing" solution.

For some reason, when I click the X to close my MDI parent form, the action
appears to be re-directed to one of the MDI child forms, and the parent
remains open. I am then unable to close the application.
What should happen, is that the main MDI form should close, taking the child
forms with it. There is code to loop through the child forms, remove the
controls on each of them, and then close the form, but this code should
execute only...

Hi all -
I am working on a web application and have run into a problem. From a
main window (Window1) I open a child window (Window2), and from that
child window I open a grandchild window (Window3). I need to call a
funcion that resides on Window1 from Window3. I do this successfully
by calling a function with window.opener on Window3, which calls a
function with window.opener on Window2, which calls a function on
Window1.
My...

Hi guys, I'm trying to create an HTML page that contains two frames.
The bottom frame should simply be some website, but the top frame needs
to have a close link to kill the window. I tried calling
'document.window.close()' from the child frame, but without success. I
then tried putting the 'close()' call in the parent page and calling it
from the child, but still without success.
Can anyone take a look at the HTML/Javascript below and...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
