The difference between two date times

154 New Member
Hi is there a way you could get the difference between two dates and times.

Is there a function in perl to do this already?

basically i got a script and i have a start time and end time. so basically
i want the difference between the start and end to give the duration in date and time.

Could somebody please help me out with this please.

Thanks in advance

What format is your date in? Knowing that would improve our chance of helping you better. I would think a module like Date::Manip or Date::Calc or other would be the best for dates in any format other that Unix(epoch).

What do you mean by the duration in "date and time"? Show us an example.

Hi guys sorry for the delay.

The format of the date and time is going to be in 11-13-2007 13:30:09

What I mean't by duration is the result of the difference between the two datetimes.

1) I have mySQL 3.23 installed. I have a record with two date/times fields in YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS format. How do I find the difference between those two date/times? (I would also like to know it with seconds left off.) 2) Let's say I have two records each with a date/time field in YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS format. How do I find the difference in date/times when each field is in a different record? Thanks,

Hi I am trying to find difference between two time values in hours. I have tried the following? ? dateDiff("h", #23:00:00#, #23:00:00#) gives 0 as expected. ? dateDiff("h", #00:00:00#, #23:00:00#) gives 23??? should it not be 1 as 00:00:00 (12 midnight) is only one hour after 23:00:00 (11 pm)?

Hi, I'm really sorry to post this as I know it must have been asked countless times before, but I can't find an answer anywhere. Does anyone have a snippet of JavaScript code I could borrow which calculated the difference in years and days between two dates, and takes leap years into account? I'm calculating the difference in the usual way, i.e....

For the purpose of finding someone's age I was looking for a way to find how the difference in years between two dates, so I could do something like: age = (date.today() - born).year but that didn't work (the timedelta class doesn't have a year accessor). I looked in the docs and the cookbook, but I couldn't find anything, so

Anyone know how to calculate the difference between two times displayed in two textboxes? I'm starting out with two textboxes: "txtCallTimeBegins" & "txtCallTimeEnds" this yielded: 6/7/2007 2:40:50 PM & 6/7/2007 2:45:04 PM respectively. First I have coverted these to two additional textboxes to hold only the time, not the date using: =TimeValue() & =TimeValue()

Hello, I have 2 time fields dynamically generated in format "m/d/y H:m". Could someone show me a good function to calculate the time interval difference in minutes? I played with strtotime() but but that only gave me difference in hours and only if the times were on the same day (after wrapping with date() function). TIA

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
