Running Perl as a Windows Application

2 New Member
The perl scripts I've written in the past all run from either an MSDOS or UNIX command line. Can someone point me to a book or web site that tells how to initiate a perl program in WINDOWS without using the MSDOS command line? Or, if it is not possible to run the code literally without the MSDOS command line, is there a way to make the MSDOS console hidden while the program is executing (I'm using WIN32::GUI for the user interaction)?

TIA,

Phil

You must be using activestate perl. I think you can do what you want using wperl instead of perl. Look in the activestate documentation and see if you can find any info about wperl.

What is a good tool for running XPath queries on Linux? I have the O'Reilly XPath book and I'm using XPath Visualizer on Windows and that seems to work fine, but I'm looking for something on Linux. I've tried Quanta. It seems to be able to run the xsltproc processor to do XSLT transformations but it doesn't seem to cope with interactively typing in XPath expressions. (As a side note, what other tools are useful with XML on Linux and...

I don't need a detailed description of a solution(although I wouldn't mind), but I am hoping someone could tell me in general the best path to go about accomplishing a task, since I don't know all the capabilities of what I have available. I may be involved in a data migration project involving databases and creating XML feeds. Our site is PHP based, so I imagine the team might suggest PHP, but I had a look at the PHP documentation for one of the Pear modules for creating XML and it didn't look like much. I've used Perl XML:Twig and I have the impression that there is more Perl stuff available as well as the Perl stuff being well documented as I have a Perl DBI book, a Perl...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
