best possible match among list of strings

1 New Member
Hi,

I want to get the best possible match for a strings among a list of strings.

For eg, my string to be matched is hi/howareyou?rudoi ngok which needs to be matched against the below list,

hi/
hi/howareyou
hi/howareyou?
hi/howareyou?ru

The result of my match should be hi/howareyou?ru because this has the longest string matching to the original among the rest.

What would be a good way to do it in perl.

Thanks,
Dayanand

Use a regular expression. Post the code you have tried so far.

The experts on this site are more than happy to help you with your problems but they cannot do your assignment/program for you. Attempt the assignment/program yourself first and post questions regarding any difficulties you have or about a particular function of the code that you don't know how to achieve.

Please read the Posting Guidelines and particularly the Coursework Posting Guidlines.

I need to write a regular expression to match a quoted string in which the double quote character itself is represented by 2 double quotes. For example: "beginning ""nested quoted string"" end" Any idea how to write this in boost::xpressive or boost::regex. Thanks,

Basically, the problem is this: 'do' Python's NFA regexp engine trys only the first option, and happily rests on that. There's another example: 'oneself' The Python regular expression engine doesn't exaust all the

Hi, I feel I'm going around circles on this one and would appreciate some other points of view. From a design / encapsulation point of view, what's the best practise for returning a private List<as a property. Consider the example below, the class "ListTest" contains a private "List<>" called "strings" - it also provides a public...

Hi I've read around quite a bit about Unicode and python's support for it, and I'm still unclear about how it all fits together in certain scenarios.
